aw, rats, I was so proud of myself for "bro-bgyns" but in reading the replies I see that @schlompkins.bsky.social thought of it first

I stand by my speculum vs. orgasm point

OK, I know the point here is "guy-necologist" (which is a term that I think that trans men use, so hands off, bro-bgyns)

But also it's just so typical that for corresponding health tests women get to have the speculum and men get to have an orgasm

Everyone using a text based app thinking it's the "commons" could use some perspective. Most of America is watching videos, all of us reading text are in small echo chambers and personally I don't see the need to be in one with a bunch of Nazis.

The only reason I wouldn't want it is because they're both so good they each deserve an award. It seems a shame that one would beat out the other.

But leaving Pale, Pale Moon off the list is madness, imho

"Pale, Pale Moon" is SUCH a banger. And the lyrics ARE the plot of the movie - they foreshadow everything that is to come. Jayme Lawson's performance is thrilling: I'm not convinced that Pearline couldn't have pierced that veil herself.

Both songs deserve an Oscar nomination.

Ok, I've been thinking a lot about this, because Sinners was, by far, my favourite movie last year. I'm so, so thrilled that it got so many nominations, and that "I Lied to You" is nominated for best song.

However, I think that "Pale, Pale Moon" should ALSO have been nominated for best song 🧡

There's a legendary story in my family about the time when my uncle, as a young teenager, said to my grandfather: "We're reading Romeo and Juliet in school. I don't think Shakespeare's that great."

My grandfather replied: "Son, that's not you judging Shakespeare. That's Shakespeare judging you."
