Two gamer dudes gaming. One says, "What's your opinion on logical languages?" to which the other gamer dude replies, "As far as I'm concerned, all languages are 'logical' languages."
Finished another translation thing which should be coming out soon... need to take a long break and not think about words for a while (going back to reading about ling)

SeaBed and Hello Girl, both yuri vns of very different genres and lengths but both very dear to my heart
I know canonically Chozo language has a sound system that's more or less like any human language, but I like to imagine it being more like birdsong, and Samus learning to reproduce it by whistling or smth, the way some birds can produce human like speech sounds with their very different anatomy

There is linguistic evidence that English-speaking whalers must have taught a variety of pidgin English to the Chukotka natives. Whymper (1686), in a generally reliable account of Alaska and Chukotka in 1865-66, gives the following words and phrases of “broken English” uttered by Chukchi natives: (11) (about the engine of the ship:) Too muchee wheel, makee man too muchee think! Same honestly
I think this could be a pretty decently workable system with some way of indicating checked syllables (maybe abrupt rise then fall in amplitude and in pitch down to target tone, and shorter overall duration kinda like some Otomanguean ballistic syllables?) and at least one onset distinction
Spontaneously whistled 5 2 1 6 3 (你喺邊度啊) from a decent distance and my interlocutor actually understood lfg, new record for longest utterance in whistled Cantonese successfully interpreted
(They can't whistle so they just shouted back)

*pained sigh* we will still be there for Line 5 no matter what
I was on the first car to leave the station and it was so funny how you could just feel the initial optimism (excited chatting, literal band playing) evaporating as soon as we got out onto street level and you could see the cars zooming past you and the train having to stop at every traffic light
Getting a copy of The Minimalist Program for my coworker and pretending to get embarrassed that I ジャケ買い'd it after taking one look at the title and thinking it would be like in the vein of Clean Code or some Marie [məˈriː] Kondo decluttering book (for programmers or something 🤷♀️)

This is an essay about pain. @gallowlessdatura.bsky.social compares the Bag of Milk series by @nktkrkv.bsky.social and Z.A.T.O. by Ferry "nopanamaman" with her own experiences, and speaks on both dehumanization and finding hope in a simple message. gamesline.net/tales-of-the...
