What is woth Dr.'s offices having TVs on with loud volumes? I'm worried about being able to hear mu name when it's called. I cannot image how people with sensory issues feel in this environment.

Thank you for this because Houston, TX is my hometown and while I don't keep up, I thought I'd remember something like this.

To be clear - this means 7.6 million more of our neighbors, our friends, our coworkers, our parishioners, our community that will not be able to get the medical care they need. This does not mean that magically they’re making more money and don’t qualify anymore

Monday: Freezing cold outside and I'm somehow burning up.

Today: Decent temps outside (55F/13C or so) and I'm freezing.

Will someone make my body make sense?!

Tried to Google this. Accidentally typed "bimbogenesis" instead. Now I'm picturing something related but very, very different.

Ask your five-year-old. I'm sure he can help!

Greetings from my colleague who is both a great music theorist and an awesome pianist, but sadly terrible at counting.

I don't think I've ever said this before, but times are changing: Go New Jersey!

(Happy?) Ash Wednesday everyone. I look forward to at least one of my not Catholic students telling (very politely, I might add) my Catholic students that they have something on their forehead.

Happens most years and it's always a sweet interaction.

I will happily verify that you are a duck and musicologist.

A donkey reading a book about donkeys. In this print of circa 1799, Francisco de Goya mocks the obsession with #genealogy in his day and time. #skystorians

From the bestskeeting author of the Bluesky-famous six-week Bad Bunny 101 comes this essential close reading of the halftime show! 🧡

I hope this leaves my head before I have to pretend we're both professionals on Monday.

No surprise, I was near Houston.

I distinctly remember driving down the highway, wishing I had turtle shells.

Scene: Monday morning

Student: Nooo. The groundhog saw his shadow!

Me: Oh no, the prophecy rodent!

I understand the reasoning. I am literally the only person on my street that uses the style of (tiny) garage I have as a garage. Their neighbor messaged the for me so it probably won't happen again.

Blocked in by an idiot. I don't want to be THAT neighbor, but I would like to go to work.

Some of our UofL students (art majors?) made some EPIC snow sculptures.

Assuming this is real, I can imagine getting the states mixed up or having an off day etc. What I cannot imagine is emailing someone else before I did a search on my own.

I haven't checked yet but I'm assuming that Ted Cruz is not in the files for similar reasons.

One snow day and now two days of remote instruction. Not thrilled that the first hour of my Pedagogy class was canceled (2/3 students had internet issues) but I am SO happy none of them were online when I got the "remote learning" message. Nothing says "pedagogy" like yelling "f***" into the aether.
