@sharkbombs.bsky.social Thank you so much for making a mobile version of Nowhere Prophet. Now there is actually a game that's worth playing on my phone.

In the ZΓΌrcher Filmstiftung's first games funding round, more than five million francs were in demand. A total of 12 projects were picked for funding with over 625,000 CHF, among them @obleakgames.bsky.social, LUAL, Kerzoven as well as @blindflugstudios.bsky.social for an event.
FYI two of the games were listed wrong in the press release. It should be "Biomechanoid Repair Shop" instead of "Biomechanical Repair Job" and "Infinity Bounce" instead of "Infiny Bounce".
Source: I'm the developer of the first game and the dev of the second is sitting next to me. π
Despite everything, I bid you a good morning.

An old Mac OS style window labelled "ship Argosy ID = 132 from EV Data" containing stat values for a spaceship in a game.
What editing EV game data looks like. So yeah, my comfort zone is a game as an engine for doing what structured game data tells it to do. More systems-driven, less visual.
Yeah they are completely gone now. Endless Sky is a pretty good successor game, though. I even contributed a little bit to it! store.steampowered.com/app/404410/E...
Or if you want a similar experience in Steampunk I can really recommend Sunless Sea and Sunless Skies by @failbettergames.com
So I really don't get along with scene-based engines like Unity.
It just occurred to me that many people got started in #gamedev by making levels, so an engine that feels like a level editor feels comfortable.
Whereas I got started editing structured data for Escape Velocity mods.
Looks cute, I'll check it out.
Recs for interesting next fest demos? Something that isn't AI slop or gambling flavoured?
It's a really common brand of elevator here in Switzerland, and my brain says "Schindler's Lift" every single time I am in one.

Game idea spawned by lack of sleep and too much coffee: You play as the black mold on JK Rowling's walls.
Okay, this is quite outstanding from Bedford Council.
Aah yes VS is good HMU if you want to play together some time!
Blerp! I love it!
"Obviously the baby crushing engine has some drawbacks but we would like to talk about its benefits right now."
everytime i, as a queer, would get told "don't you care about QUEERS though?" to try and justify ignoring a dem's problems, the question i'd always have is "what makes me so important? compared to the palestinian, the immigrant?"
and we now watch the same people tell queers they gotta just take it.

Saving and the MainMenu took longer than expected, but now the Journal's functionality is finally working.
It automatically populates with lore, based on the events you've encountered about those things in all of your playthroughs! π₯°

Reading Green Mars and just got up to this bit βeven those who want minimal government and oversight still want the systems in place that afforded them their privilege in the first place. Thatβs libertarians for you - anarchists who want police protection from their slavesβ
Vibe coding is working as expected: it'll kill the open-source, secure, and ideologically maintained alternatives to make sure you have to pay the oligarchs to do anything at all, and they can control what you're allowed to make.

We're stoked to introduce the 'No Gen AI' seal for indie games!
Indie devs can use it on their game's store page to assure potential players that their game was made without the use of Generative AI.
You can grab it from the Polygon Treehouse website:-
