You're probably not the target market. The target market is people that like what Trump has done with the oval office

Yeah but people would get angry when they find out you have to watch the movie twice if you want to actually see the ending.

Which is ultimately the cusp of a lot of this - Platner's supporters act like we want him ostracized from society, when actually it is a question of SHOULD THIS GUY GET TO BE A US SENATOR

Nothing, supposedly. It's a hobby, or a favor to his mother, or whatever.

Brb tuning into Jeopardy for the clue "this German word for 'death's head' describes a symbol that was both used by the Nazi SS in WW2 *and* tattooed on Senate candidate Graham Platner's chest for almost twenty years". I know this one!

I definitely want to hear more deep thoughts from the guy who claimed Elon Musk's purchase of twitter would "extend the light of consciousness"

As usual, every Republican tantrum about Democratic gerrymandering that doesn't end with "...and that's why I support a national ban on gerrymandering" is to be regarded with contempt and ignored.

I mean I have personally wondered what his deal is. Is it a physical disability (in which case it doesn't seem to be stopping him from his oyster farming hobby)? Is it a mental disability (in which case is it prudent to put him in the Senate)?

About 50% of Graham Platner defenses sound like Hans Landa disputing his nickname as "The Jew Hunter".

Again, CEOs aren't neutral industry prophets, they're sleazy salesmen who got the CEO gig precisely because of their amorality and guile. Any news outlet breathlessly reprinting their pronouncements is poisoning the mind of the public.

Nope, not a "right-wing distraction". It's a fact that instantly and permanently disqualifies him from holding high office. Glad to see from your other posts that you seem to have realized how unsuitable he is.

Cry that I'm "pathetic" all you want. Platner's Nazi tattoo means he shouldn't serve in the Senate.

I love watching people use LLMs in public. They’ll reply to a breaking news article and say “@grok is this true?” Babe where do you think it’s about to pull its answer from

And Platner isn't even being rejected by the world! He just can't be a *United States Senator*, one of the most powerful offices on Earth

This is also a funny movie quote because the end of "A Few Good Men" is "Jessep is outsmarted, loses his cool, blows up emotionally, and gets arrested"

Nobody is actually 100% certain about a politician's inner beliefs. Nobody, possibly not even that politician.
The question we have is: is there a greater than average risk that a man who had a Nazi tattoo for many years harbors Nazi-like beliefs?

This isn't going away, Ryan. People like me are going to be condemning him for this until he leaves political life. It's a permanent millstone around his neck.

I'm not certain that Platner is a Nazi. It also doesn't matter if he's not. The tattoo makes him unsuitable for the United States Senate because of the importance of denormalizing and stigmatizing Nazi dogwhistles and symbology.

Among other things this means that the screaming about Platner and his tattoo is not going to stop even if he is elected to office and even if he wields power responsibly. Establishing a clear norm against Nazism means condemning him continually until he leaves political life.

"The guy with the Nazi tattoo isn't that bad - just listen to what he has to say on my podcast!" is a fairly succinct expression of how we got to this catastrophic moment in the first place.

Again, there's a whiff of Trump in Platner's candidacy. Once again, supporters of an obviously unsuitable candidate demand we take him seriously instead of saying "no, not him" and moving on.

I remember during the pandemic when antivaxxers mocked us for taking the vaccine even though it required multiple shots and boosters. ...Yes? Medicine often works that way, whether it's for cancer or a runny nose?

Platner was also using the f-slur for gay men in 2018 at the age of 33. Not 2008 or 1998 or 1988. 2018! Why would we trust this man with power?

A cartoon of a stern-looking man. Under the man the word "Yes" is shown in all caps.
"So you're saying that because of a stupid decision he made as a young man he's permanently disqualified from being a United States Senator?"

The problem with Platner isn't just the concern that he's a Nazi. It's also that electing him to high office would be a devastating blow to the effort to denormalize and stigmatize Nazi dogwhistles and symbology. That's what we're up against here.
