Hope sees through sheets of doom + despair, offering an umbrella to those caught in the downpour.
But Hope won’t let you make a fool of her. She stands tall in the shadow of tired tyranny, speaking truth and serving strong side-eye to those who deny her.
For Hope is sweet, yet Hope has a spine.

The truth is that we may not be able to move institutions as far as we hope within our lifetimes. But we can examine our own lives. “Be true to what you said…”
…to America, to that over which we hold power and influence, to us. ✨(5/5)

This is not just for America. This is for every non-profit, school and church; every helping profession, marriage and business, large or small. In that way, Dr. King’s challenge to integrity is for all of us: individuals and institutions alike. (4/5)

He wanted America to live up to the aspirational ideals that were penned in ink, ideals like “all men are created equal.” In this way, he unashamedly called America to a kind of integrity that had been painfully tainted.
And he’d call for that today.
“Be true to what you said on paper.” (3/5)

But he said more than what we usually quote. To honor Dr. King is to commit ourselves to the knowledge of the fullness of his words and not just his palatable parts. In that same speech, he also said,
“All we say to America is, ‘Be true to what you said on paper.’” (2/5)
