12 years ago I entered my first Global Game Jam
This weekend I was a site organizer for one of the Bogota Sites.
I would not have been able to handle the site alone and had a lot of help, but it is amazing to see how much can change in 12 years.
A timeline visually representing the advice from my post, emphasising how dramatically and reliably having more time, with a testable build, converts to your game being better and your studio being safer.
I've been running an indie games studio for 15 years now, and it felt like a good time to boil down what I've learned into 4 pieces of advice:

I hope it's of use, not least because goddamn I forgot how long blog posts take to write.

Congratssssss!!!
The Nintendo and Steam store pages are buckling under the weight of Silksong.
I cannot feel more pride of @teamcherry.bsky.social at this moment. A small group of people and a tiny bug making titans suffer.
BREAKING: Silksong will be out on September 4. Two weeks from today. Really.
Often, games that take 7+ years to make are plagued by mismanagement and painful burnout. But for Silksong? Team Cherry was having a blast. They still are.
This is their story: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...
Starting game devs: "Making games will be fun and easy!"
Experienced game devs:
Despuรฉs de 5 minutos (que se sintieron como 15 aรฑos), Panty & Stocking han vuelto y siguen tan irreverentes y grandiosas como siempre.
Checked my Steam Wishlist today and I'm pretty glad that most of it consists of games being made by Colombians
Reminder: Atari didn't collapse in 1983-84 because their games were bad. It was because they had such unrealistic projections that even their top-selling titles were considered flops
Atari executives peddled the "people hated the games" story to deflect blame for their mismanagement
โWe have voted democratically to kill the babyโ is one of those quotes that comes from a fictional situation, but somewhat I feel that some politician would be willing to say it in real life.
I have to thank @ass.golf for making the perfect reaction image to reading almost any NEWSยฉ in recent and future times.
I need folks to stop with the solo dev narrative.
It is hypothetically possible to make a game all by yourself.
I promise you that 99.999999% of the commercial games that youโve played were not made by one person.
Whatโs more, devaluing the contributions of anyone touching the game is bullshit.
OH MY FUCKING GOOOODDDDDDDDD
MATSUNO YOU ARE THE ETERNAL GOAT
Thirty-three days ago, we released Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
Since then, weโve sold 3.3 million copies.
Seriously. As of today.
We couldnโt make that up.
Another entry on the long list of surreal moments that your support has made real.
Thank you ALL.
It's all fun and games until it has to be fun and a game
Graciasss y te mando un abrazo
Yoko Taro: "In 50 years, AI will leave game developers jobless."
Me: * Existential crisis *
Yoko Taro: "But maybe developers will turn into something akin to bards."
Yo: "... Am I really at the point that the thought of becoming a bearded old man developing for scraps is kinda uplifting?."
I may not know which will be the best opening of the season, but I do know which one is living rent free in my head for the next few weeks. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaXX...
Bravely Default, DeltaRune and Mario Kart on day 1 makes the Switch 2 a must buy for me.
Remember to not trust any news today, and actually any day.

Zelda Williams (the daughter of the great Robin Williams) sure had a lot to say about the โStudio Ghibli styleโ AI images that have been trending recently.
I think those people should read these posts and really think about what theyโre doing.
I was practicing a bit of anatomy and one of the sketches I really liked, so I decided to ink it and color it during the weekend
At first I thought that Dragon Ball Daima was a quick cash grab and would be mediocre at best.
It ended up being of the best ways to finish the great world that Toriyama invented. Those final episodes were beautiful and it showed that everybody involved wanted to bring their A game to the table.
