Forgotten Fishguard? - Institute of Welsh Affairs A stroll through Fishguard to reflect on the town as an important cultural and tourism centre for West Wales.

So lovely to see Fishguard #Pembrokeshire being promoted. I hope to do the Saints and Stones Pilgrimage including the Irish leg connecting with people over there working on similar regeneration projects. This has given me the inspiration / reminder to start planning.

Attending Cwm Arian event for Nyfer am Byth project to learn about the importance of Welsh names to understand the history and landscape of the area. Understanding this cultural relationship to land and river is vital part of the rivers restoration. Great passionate presentation.

#Pembrokeshire has Wales only #seaweed farm: Car y Mor which is actually a multi tropic regenerative ocean farm. It’s now supplying a really exciting oyster restoration project in another part of the country. This gives me hope ❤️

A recent report I commissioned looking at governance for climate, nature and food in Pembrokeshire highlighted the big gap around food and lack of integration with climate and nature objectives. Agree adding in that we need more organic, regeneratively produced veg and meat in Wales. To find a market for this higher value, higher nutrition produce, public procurement needs to enable local supply chains and access for lower income families systems established. Other countries doing already.

Shame that a legal process is required. Perhaps a consequence of current systems for conflict resolution not being fit for purpose. All those involved have a passion for nature and the local area but the devil is in the detail and tricky balance of ‘sustainability’ in a nature crisis.

Helped set up the partnership to enable this to happen. Excited to connect history to the present and vision for the future of my local river.
