Last year when I was checking into a hotel, the desk person was wearing Meta glasses. I kindly asked them to take them off. They were annoyed. I said, “I do not consent to you looking at my credit card and ID with Meta glasses on.” My instincts were correct: www.bbc.com/news/article...
Here's me talking specifically about ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER, which is my favorite film of last year.

Joan Cusack is a top-tier Now We're Talkin actor
"...So I-I killed. So I maimed. So I destroyed one innocent life after another. Aren't I a human being? Don't I yearn, and ache, and shop? Don't I deserve love... and jewelry?"
I was on the ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES junket, and watching Joan Cusack break down the beats of the "Ballerina Barbie" speech like she was dissecting a jazz number was the highlight of the day.
Which is really saying something, because Carol Kane and Anjelica Huston were also there.
Ad idea: A child in the hospital can’t get the oxygen tank they need covered on Medicaid, because there’s a moratorium on Durable Medical Equipment because of “fraud.”
Cut to economist on MS Now saying that 100k kids could have healthcare covered for a year for cost of planes just shot down in war.
One of my favorites!!
Thank you, Casey!
Great article by @filmintuition.bsky.social
Aw, Jed, thank you!
Great piece here on Joan Cusack by Jen Johans. She's never not one of the best things about a movie
When Nell & Chaz @ebertvoices.bsky.social invited me to write something again this year for Women Writers Week, I chose one of Roger Ebert’s favorite character actresses & mine, a woman who’s synonymous with Chicago, the great Joan Cusack! Read it here:

Oh, she would’ve been so great!
"Unexpected" for Joan Cusack in ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES is hilarious to those of us who adore the film. She ABSOLUTELY deserved another Oscar nomination for it.
That said, this is a lovely article and I agree with these choices.
Aw, thank you. I think most people assumed I’d just do Toy Story and School of Rock!
Aw, thanks, & I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you, yes, I use one through the UPS Store so will probably do that!
In the latest episode of #TheDecadeProject on @ohmpods.bsky.social I talk with my dear friend, the host of Watch with Jen - @filmintuition.bsky.social about the seductive, low-stakes elegance of #FOCUS.
Tillis to Noem: "A 14 month old dog is basically a teenager in dog years. You decided to kill that dog bc you hadn't invested the appropriate training, then you have the audacity to write a book & say it's a leadership lesson! ... Those are bad decisions not unlike what happened in Minneapolis"
Who can reply: anyone, nobody, people who can be normal about it.
trying out a new feature, lmk if it works
For Women Writers Week, Jen Johans writes about Joan Cusack, and how she’s "crackling, high-voltage live wire who commits to scenes with an intensely funny mischievous ferocity."
"Stevie!"
Thank you!
A fun piece from the great @filmintuition.bsky.social on Chicago legend Joan Cusack!
