'Thoughts of exploration are never far from the mind when immersed in this remarkable record. It lives up to its title, sounds apparently sprouting from the seeds of ideas, climbing through the creative consciousness’s soil...'

Oil and charcoal on canvas, abstract cubist bodies piled together. Description from MOMA site: "With its varying degrees of finish—you can see traces of charcoal and sections of blank canvas—and vast network of undulating lines and geometric shapes, Picasso seems to have obscured legibility in favor of generating a rhythmic abstraction. As if questioning the ability of painting to represent war, he created a shifting, spectral vision."

Picasso's depiction of a fascist massacre, a murdered family unceremoniously tangled together under a dining table.

36 children were killed in an Israeli strike on a girls’ elementary school in Hormozgan province, Iran. The same doctrine that bombed schools in Gaza is now bombing schools in Iran.

Israel waged a war of annihilation in Gaza. Now it wants everyone but itself to disarm. Trump is acting on Israel's direction in bombing Iran. Israel ignores the sovereignty of neighbouring states & is a danger to humanity. Israel should surrender their WMDs. www.haaretz.com/opinion/2026...

Zack said they’d replace Labour here. Reform (put a flag in it!) started so haha strong…
Glorious in itself, imagine a very different national politics and country!
‘Normally’ bye-election results are discountable. How ‘normal’ do you, does it, does this time feel?

Yup! Similar in UK where that statement incurs the affected wrath of genocide deniers who will scream that it is anti-Semitic and *even now* get a huge bang for their BS buck.

If only we weren’t so siloed in our budgeting.

The gains for public health budgets from enabling a physically active population are immense.

Safe routes for cycling are an investment in health more than a cost for transport budgets. 👇

Westminster’s anti-drugs panic is out of step with public sentiment It’s about time that we had an evidenced-based approach that focused on reducing harm

Nearly three years ago, I wrote for @theipaper.com about how Westminster's debilitating caution and irrationality was letting us all down.

Credit to Zack Polanski for trying to start a rational debate.

But what really blew up Michelle’s employment at the mag, former staffers say, was her response to October 7, after she put an effective gag order on commissioning any pieces acknowledging the genocide in Gaza.

“Michelle told us variously that she was facing pressure from the board not to say anything anti-Israel, and also that she had, in her words, ‘Jewish people in her life whose feelings would be hurt,’” says another former editor. “It was a workplace issue and treated as such. People were saying, ‘This is sort of unconscionable. Like, what are we doing?”

“It’s important to note that in the last year of Boris’s tenure as editor-in-chief, we probably published forty things about the war in Ukraine,” that editor told me. “But Michelle told us we couldn’t even discuss Gaza in editorial meetings.”

At LARB, they weren’t even allowed to discuss Gaza in editorial meetings.

‘It’s now or never’: Tunbridge Wells residents race to save commons from developers Campaign launched amid fears land in heart of Kent town that has been put up for sale could be turned into flats

Fight, fight, fight for your common/s, so few of them left.
It’s always worth it: there would be no Epping Forest, Hainault Forest, Hampstead Heath, Peckham Rye (majority), Kennington Common…
These spaces need *expanding* into the mid-Century especially in cities.
