He’s not playing chess literally. He’s not playing chess figuratively. He’s not playing chess on any level of abstraction whatsoever. I doubt he can play chess.

I think "stop showing this shit to me" is a reasonable feedback to give Youtube for its shorts suggestions.
Pretty crazy how important the blockade of a trade route is right now

'I Melt With You' - Modern English
Getting it on as the bomb hits.

No plan, no endgame, Trump is careering towards disaster.
It is quite possible to see the Trump presidency entirely through the prism of market manipulation for private gain.

Day 8: A Song That Feels Ahead Of Its Time
'I'm Afraid Of Americans' - David Bowie
Dismissed as overwrought satire at the time. Sounds on the f**king nose now.

It just feels like, across the board, journalists have become unmoored from reality.
Maybe it’s Twitter. Maybe it’s the Overton window. Maybe they’re just tired.
I have no idea, but things really, really have changed.
Using a song born from grief and reflection as a political theme for strongman theatrics says everything about the moment. Art created to process loss now repurposed for spectacle and power. Culture deserves respect, not exploitation for authoritarian branding.
These songs are picked specifically so the outrage over their use will make clips of Trump go viral. That's why they never choose classical music by long-dead creators. Or even instrumental versions of songs by living artists who have turned to fascism. No one would pay attention.
Weird how creating conditions where powerful people never have to face real accountability leads to powerful people abusing their power. Who could have predicted that?
I was just extolling a friend— write stories from your life down. Even if you don’t know what/if anything you’ll do with it. If you’re in your 40s or older you need to write your teens and 20s escapades down right now.
Or dictate into an audio file. How quickly your life becomes social history…

So Philip Glass just joined TikTok. He only has like 4 posts and they’re simply him in what I assume is his living room playing the piano. First comment on one I saw was “your piano is too close to the fireplace, you’ll dry it out” and if that’s not the internet in a nutshell I don’t know what is.

'Anyone Who Had A Heart' - Dionne Warwick
Not the whole song (as there are a number of complex and clever time changes in this one) but it's in there towards the end.
