Extraordinary to think that as late as 2005, unmarried fathers did not pass on their citizenship.

Whatever you think of Zack Polanski. He doesnβt plan to deport legally settled migrants. Please stop this shit. You guys are supposed to be among the brightest and test educated. Stop making such superficial comparisons.
I think itβs more a sign of workplaces becoming more security conscious and requiring everyone to visibly display their ID at all times and avoid the problem of having to decide whether to challenge someone who isnβt recognised and the awkwardness that could cause.
Always think itβs a pity that the Bad Sex Awards werenβt around at the time of its publication
More like 70 pages iirc
Such a non-story. Would have been arranged months ago. Should it have been cancelled? What would that have achieved?
Somehow Spurs going down would feel like a bigger shock than former champions such as Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City doing so
Does the latter question about political participation suggests that most people would favour giving non-citizens the vote?
The other ways are disqualifying themselves some way (bankruptcy, prison for 12+ months, becoming a judge) or killing themselves, or convincing the King to dissolve parliament
This is the point about Labour introducing retrospective changes to the immigration system. They set the precedent for any Govt. to say that they can go back on promises to migrants and people of colour as far back as they want.
Itβs a bit grim but companies sometimes have insurance in case the employee suddenly leaves for the place in the sky. Understandable if a CEO dies suddenly but Iβve heard stories of quite menial workers dying and the employer getting a payout way in excess of any likely loss. Just profiting from it
Also I suppose the employer would have to show that they suffered a loss and that they made reasonable attempts to mitigate it. Not sure how often that happens
I can see that and Iβm not an employment lawyer but Iβm not sure that would necessarily make a difference to lawfulness but as I say I know virtually nothing about this area of law
But presumably any impact on the business would have to be weighed against the impact on an employee who canβt seek other employment or use that as leverage. To use lawyers favourite word, itβs about whatβs βreasonableβ, I presume.
Doesnβt 700k seem like rather a lot for somebody whoβs essentially head of a union?
Even three seems like a lot. Previous jobs Iβve had thatβs the notice period for somebody quite senior but maybe as you say itβs the impact of them leaving without a replacement being in place and nobody else to pick up the duties
Also guessing that even when a court would enforce a notice period, damages would be very much preferred to specific performance given that it would be forced labour and a court would have to judge whether the work was of an acceptable standard.
On LinkedIn the other day I saw something about a conveyancing paralegal who had a six month notice period. Surely no court would ever enforce what seems to be just an attempt to prevent someone from seeking something better paid as a new employer would be unlikely to be willing to wait that long.
Ironic when a job ad demands βstrong academicsβ, like they canβt even use proper English.
Also not many people know that the actor who played Miles is Jonathan Aitkenβs nephew
In another sign of the times, the only character to gave a mobile was a courier. And the smoking in offices.
Remember Miles doing speed. Back then cocaine was beyond the means of a young barrister.
At the other place people are losing their shit because of this. Something some war in the Middle East something something.
Yeah Iβm sure even the most obscure backbencher knows gossip that the subject of would rather was not made public
IDS did at least force his MPs to quit the Monday Club. Canβt imagine Badenoch doing such a thing.
Personal and embarrassing information about those who are ministers? Or other βinsideβ information?
Assuming their not a minister, what use is a backbench MP to to a hostile state?
The partner of a sitting Labour MP is among three people who have been arrested on suspicion of spying for China, the Guardian understands. Security services are investigating foreign interference in UK democracy, including attempts to obtain information on policymaking and interfere with sovereign affairs. A second person is understood to be the partner of a former Labour MP.
The partner of a sitting Labour MP *and* the partner of a former Labour MP?

Anyway anybody who thinks that citizenship is something special that Reform would treat with reverence, two words: Shamima Begum
To get an idea of just how out there what Reformβs policy is once was, hereβs a quote from the 1979 Tory manifesto. And Thatcher (βswamped by people from different culturesβ) was hardly a fan of immigration.
