ICE has arrested and detained a Nashville journalist who reported stories critical of ICE. Sheβs married to a U.S. citizen and has been seeking asylum here after fleeing death threats in Colombia because of her journalism there.
Theyβve already sent her to Louisiana.
They are torturing and killing people in our concentration camps, and I wish more people were actively bothered by that
T-minus three weeks until βwhy donβt women want to date them?β
I wrote about the first national book banning bill, which effectively seeks to erase trans people. At the end I include a link to let your reps know that you oppose this bill and all it stands for. lithub.com/why-we-must-...
four men holding up a banner that says "NO VISAS NO VICTORIES SECURE BOTH FOR CUBAN OLYMPIC ATHLETES LET CUBA PLAY . com"
a source has informed me that Let Cuba Play was outside Surprise Stadium prior to the Cuba/Royals exhibition game. members of the Team Cuba delegation were denied visas to enter the U.S., including the team's pitching coach, Pedro Luis Lazo. (photo from Let Cuba Play)

the Giants are really trying to make this stupid unnecessary comeback a thing huh (from the Giants media guide)
In my own life, I also observe fewer people willing to stand up for fat people, and more people willing to defend or explain away anti-fatness.
Like, solidarity with people who are fatter than oneself really feels like it has evaporated in a way that's both heartbreaking and frightening.
Less than $1k to go!!!!! And less than 4 hours to get there!!!
not entirely the point but also a reminder that Substack just partnered with Polymarket so if you needed another reason to get off the Nazi platform, this is it
What we are seeing is a deliberate, well-funded campaign to make transgender Americans second-class citizensβwithout legal protections and vulnerable to state violence.
Letβs fucking go:
Everyone keep calling your reps. Tell them to vote no and oppose this.
Don't accept the lie that the U.S. was pulled into anything. Neocons like Rubio have been publicly dreaming of war with Iran for my entire life.
They are pretending to follow Israel because it foments their base's anti-semitism and obscures the U.S. empire's explicit support.
all seems like fun and games until the measles outbreak, incel mass shooter, or Shahed 136 drone hits your kid's school I guess
whether war, vaccines, or critical infrastructure there is contingent of the right that seems to believe that their security from the worst things that happen is some kind of metaphysical principle rather than the result of specific historical processes that could've gone otherwise and still could
a thing historians will marvel about when they study this era is the extent to which the "war is a thing that happens to poorer, browner people" class went about systematically dismantling every aspect of the global political order that confined the costs of war to poorer and browner people
pretty confident that if our own government bombed, say, Philadelphia, we'd just kind forget about it after a couple more Rocky movies
if youβre cis and you donβt get it this is LITERAL TORTURE
it will result in dead trans people
and with their other goal of making us βsexually explicitβ for existing
you see the pipeline right?
we exist -> weβre jailed for it -> weβre tortured and die
WE NEED YOU TO STOP THIS
Iran doesnβt have nuclear weapons
the world has never been less safe, it makes you feel crazy watching people
cheer on war and destruction and destablization for profit and land. one day it will end
βdirect your anger at trump not the democratsβ buddy you are severely underestimating the amount of anger i have available to me
this place already forgot how mad it was at Anthropic when it pirated all those books and songs huh
I love that your work is reclaiming Black history and present day Black experiences lost by flattening and segregating Black and Latin identity as our own. Something that we, as Black Americans from the U.S., can embrace. Iβm bringing a Pan-African approach to studying the game. Baseball is the last place where these intersecting identities should be erased. The anticolonial elements of Black baseball culture do not get emphasized enough. You had, less than 100 years ago, Black players from Cuba and Alabama playing across the United States and the Americas. Black baseball players who were discriminated in their hometowns were treated like celebrities in South America. Before Jackie Robinson was allowed to play on a Major League field, he did a tour of Venezuela alongside Josh Gibson and other Negro League stars. There's an idiom in Venezuela thatβs something like βDonβt pull a Willie Mays.β Why? Because when Willie Mays was in the Venezuelan Winter League, he struggled for a week. Thatβs the level of cultural impact they had. I want to preserve those stories.
Pat dropped so many gems about why we, as Black Americans, should embrace the fullness of Black history across the diaspora. He provides a model of solidarity I think we can all share.

NEW: I spoke to the journalist and researcher Pat Ellington, Jr., whose singular work expands the fullness and depth of Black history through Francisco Lindor, Ronald AcuΓ±a, and the global impact of baseball.
issa very, very special BHM edition of [eyeblack]:
Pat has an archival knowledge of the global Black diasporaβs participation in baseball. He connects dots like few Iβve ever met.
Iβm grateful he spoke to [eyeblack] www.readeyeblack.com/p/eyeblack-h...
The entire Democratic strategy debate β "moderate" or move left? fight or compromise? β is based on a misreading of data. Voters don't think Dems are too progressive; they think Dems are weak. The actual math on what to do about this isn't even close!
New: www.gelliottmorris.com/p/new-poll-d...
βDemocrats for an Informed Approach to Genderβ (DIAG) is a hate group spreading misinformation.
it's 2016: north carolina introduces a bill to ban trans people from using bathrooms safely. there's a national outcry; companies withdraw business up to and including the NCAA cancelling a publicized game. the bill fails.
it's 2026: kansas passes a law nullifying trans people's licenses. crickets.
To any Democrat who ever said about any issue, "Maybe if we agree with Republicans just this far, they'll stop there," remember that you were wrong, it was obvious at the time, and you really should never believe that again about any issue, ever.
