schools are never valid military targets, on or off base
if someone bombed a DoD school in Okinawa and killed a bunch of American 4th graders, that would be a war crime.
The murder of Iranian schoolchildren is a war crime.

Jayme Lawson from Sinners hit the nail on the head and said how I felt with the whole BAFTAs situation.
They won't start with banning birth control. First they'll lie about it. Then dictate who can prescribe it, use it, fund it, in what forms, and for how long. Suddenly, your doctor won't call you back. I know this is what they'll do because it's what they're doing to transgender healthcare right now.
The new mayor pledged to dedicate 1% of the city budget to parks and 0.5% to libraries. His preliminary spending plan delivers less.

Fund NYC libraries!
Tell Mayor Mamdani that you want 0.5% of the city budget for libraries. This is a VERY short form where you can do so.

"Moderna's CEO announced the company will no longer invest in new Phase 3 vaccine trials for infectious diseases: 'You cannot make a return on investment if you don't have access to the U.S. market. Vaccines for Epstein-Barr virus, herpes, and shingles have been shelved.β 9:12 AM Feb 12, 2026 604.8K Views
In terms of what cures are being lost:
- Epstein-Barr virus is perhaps the major trigger for multiple sclerosis
- herpes simplex virus causes cold sores, genital herpes, infections in babies, deadly meningitis
- shingles virus causes an intensely painful disease
Yesterday my Olympic dream did not finish the way I dreamt it would. It wasnβt a story book ending or a fairy tail, it was just life. I dared to dream and had worked so hard to achieve it. Because in Downhill ski racing the difference between a strategic line and a catastrophic injury can be as small as 5 inches. I was simply 5 inches too tight on my line when my right arm hooked inside of the gate, twisting me and resulted in my crash. My ACL and past injuries had nothing to do with my crash whatsoever. Unfortunately, I sustained a complex tibia fracture that is currently stable but will require multiple surgeries to fix properly.
While yesterday did not end the way I had hoped, and despite the intense physical pain it caused, I have no regrets. Standing in the starting gate yesterday was an incredible feeling that I will never forget. Knowing I stood there having a chance to win was a victory in and of itself. I also knew that racing was a risk. It always was and always will be an incredibly dangerous sport. And similar to ski racing, we take risks in life. We dream. We love. We jump. And sometimes we fall. Sometimes our hearts are broken. Sometimes we donβt achieve the dreams we know we could have. But that is the also the beauty of life; we can try. I tried. I dreamt. I jumped.
I hope if you take away anything from my journey itβs that you all have the courage to dare greatly. Life is too short not to take chances on yourself. Because the only failure in life is not trying. I believe in you, just as you believed in me. β€οΈLV

Mamdani: Thatβs how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our cityβand what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.
ABOLISH THE DHS. REFORMS WILL DO NOTHING. YOU ARE A COWARD AND A DISGRACE.
I like @jabaribrisport.bsky.social's take very much:
βEven Zohran gets it wrong sometimes. Fortunately weβve built a mass movement that isnβt controlled by any one individual; Hochulβs still going to have to listen to the people if she wants those votes, and the people are saying β #TaxTheRich.'β
Every day Mamdani comes out and is like "hey guys, I turned off the orphan-crushing machine. Literally just had to flip a switch. Took less than 5 minutes."
After decades of dem leadership pissing and moaning and fundraising about how complex an issue it is and how difficult the process is etc
We did not properly punish the confederates. We did not properly punish the insurrectionists on January 6th. We have to punish ICE.
They canβt be allowed to slink back into their communities quietly. Expose them. Arrest them. Convict them. Imprison them.
I am so enraged by this. Just called his office (where they never answer the phone). May this man never know another day of peace in his pathetic fucking life. Abolish ICE and dismantle the DHS and replace every political ghoul who isnβt working around the clock to make it happen.
Has anyone told them that theyβll be put on trial within the decade? That they will face humiliation, their lives destroyed, their futureβs shackled? That they may rot in prison or worse? Someone should make sure they know!
Swan Boy sitting on a huge hair dryer melting some ICE goons. The text says DESTROY ICE. Maybe not my subtlest piece.
Wise words from WEB DuBois to gird us today: "It would be shame and cowardice to surrender this glorious land and its opportunities for civilization and humanity to the thugs and lynchers, the mobs and profiteers, the monopolists & gamblers who today choke its soul and steal its resources."
Dismantle DHS now.
Abolish DHS. Prosecute ICE.
Abolish ICE. Any politician who wonβt should be primaried and pilloried for their bootlicking cowardice and complicity in kidnapping and murder.

When I lecture to students about how the apparently thriving economy of the 1920s was really a house of cards just waiting to be knocked down, one of the points I stress is how much a small number of the very rich were essentially propping up consumer spending in unsustainable ways
@avidsibelius.bsky.social I am losing my mind trying to get avid link to accept my (existing! Not even new!) Sibelius activation ID so I can use the product Iβve been subscribed to for years. It is shocking that your product is this dysfunctional. This will drive me to a new program.
While the pasty incels who work the federal agencies continue to churn out feeble, bloodless AI pastiches of Axis propaganda, hereβs how a living breathing artist powerfully invokes design history. This is by illustrator Emily K in South Philly, a free poster-sized download on her website: β
Iβm seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports.
And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: βNo, I donβt have to show you any documentation.β
Because thatβs how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.
Koh: Trump has now spent $30 billion from the last bill for 10,000 more I.C.E. Agents that are going to be on the streets. That $30 billion would cover all the ACA subsidies for a year. It would eliminate all co-pays for prescription drugs for people from a year, and eliminate all medical debt.
These barbarians are destroying everything that makes society work. Kids can't go to school, patients can't go to the hospital. We are, in effect, paying them to wreck the basic infrastructure of the country
it's very clear that this is a template for how they're going to approach other cities
they do not and will not have enough people to do it everywhere all at once but if you live in a city there's a very good chance that an occupying army will show up at your door in the next few years
