I might be able to accept this if the stories the makers tell were actually ABOUT the illusion of choice, but rarely does it feel that thought out. Usually it just feels like…. well, people want immersion now sooooo?
some game and theatre makers provide their audiences the illusion of choice, with no real option other than turning off the console/disengaging or doing the thing the makers want you to do
but audiences aren’t stupid! we know that’s not a real choice and it frustrates instead of inspires
