Check out this introductory video to the safer drug consumption facility opening today in Glasgow. I'm delighted to be involved in the evaluation, which will be vital to understanding what works, what doesn't and how the approach might be taken forward in the UK.

No mention of the associated #drugchecking service.
If we are serious about reducing drug-related harm, *everyone* needs to know what is in circulation in the local drug market - adulterants, contaminants, fluctuating purity - to avert overdose & poisoning *before* consumption.

1. Iβm thinking aloud here, as I really donβt have the answers. This is a thread about the political challenge of the very large numbers of young men now supporting the far right. Iβm writing it without blame or derision. Iβm just trying to find a way through. π§΅

My word of the day (and personal recommendation) is βsnerdlingβ (18th century): nestling cosily beneath the covers and holding off the day a little longer.
Morning.
The criminal justice system is so broken and prohibition corrupts all of its institutions. It appears we have learnt very little from the 'noble experiment'.
In the late 90s & early 2000s we in the UK received (very roughly) 80,000 asylum applications per year.
Mainly people escaping Balkan wars.
Today in these βunprecedentedβ times of βinvasionβ by small boatβ¦ we receive pretty much the exact same numbers.
Had you been taken in?
I wouldnβt blame you.
Give us a follow if you believe drug policy should be grounded in evidence, health, equity, and human rights.

New research from the IFS showing the closure of youth centres during the 2010s was shortsighted. For every Β£1 saved, the costs to affected users, crime victims and public spending in the police and the criminal justice system amount to Β£2.85
