Isn't that Benny Goodman at the table behind them?

Isn't that Benny Goodman at the table behind them?
I'm crushed that you guys didn't like either of these (because I was hoping both would be fun).
I'm also wondering if the two of you discussed the fact that both reviews open with "There's a moment early in [movie] . . .".
Collection of 48 colored-pencil baseball cards featuring stars of the 2023 World Baseball Classic
In honor of the first day of the 2026 World Baseball Classic, hereβs a game-by-game recap of the 2023 tournamentβ¦
A hot pink cap with a baby-blue button & bill and white front panels with a cartoon of a Happy Waitress (grilled cheese with tomato and bacon) with the four baseball bases toasted into the top piece of bread.
Speaking of . . . the Jersey Diners (Somerset Patriots) just released a Happy Waitress cap:
The World Baseball Classic is about to begin and we've been writing a ton of stories at dotcom. I'm going to run through some of my previews here if you're just now getting on board.
@mattmonagan.bsky.social, David Adler and I did a preview for all four pools: www.mlb.com/news/world-b...
I could maybe see going to Sunday and leaving after My Morning Jacket. Otherwise, no thanks.
If you work in film or TV in any capacity, you can help stop the merger. Read this:
My god what a sight for sore eyes
Two album pages containing the following 18 cards (all but the first are landscape-oriented): 1960 Topps Walt Alston, Jim Gilliam, Charlie Neal, Wally Moon, Duke Snider, Norm Larker, Gil Hodges, and John Roseboro, 1961 Post Cereal Maury Wills, 1960 Topps Don Drysdale and Johnny Podres, a reprint* of the 1960 Topps Sandy Koufax, 1960 Topps Roger Craig, Danny McDevitt, Larry Sherry, Stan Williams, Don Demeter, and Chuck Essegian. Hodges, Roseboro, Drysdale, Podres, and Koufax are not wearing caps in their primary card photos, which annoys me. My apologies to Carl Furillo, Don Zimmer, Ron Fairly, and Clem Labine. *I have Koufax's 1961, 1964, and 1966 cards. I just couldn't make my self go past my usual spending limit to get an original of this capless card, which I've never much liked.
It's been a minute since I've posted a completed 2-page (18-card) team (in part b/c I won't pay $30 for a 1966 Ron Perranoski, so my 1965 WS Champ Dodgers will remain 1 card short). Here, however, is my just-completed World Champ 1959 Dodgers (I cheaped out a bit here, too; the Koufax is a reprint):
Jesse Jackson appeared on Sesame Street in 1973.
During his appearance, he led a group of children in reciting his well-known poem βI Am Somebody,β a message focused on self-worth and empowerment
The segment became one of the most memorable celebrity appearances from the early seasons of the show.
Melle Mel's banger in support of Jesse Jackson's first presidential run in 1984.
"Governor Sherrill also launched a new state website so New Jerseyans can quickly find information about their rights when interacting with federal agents."

I will not support any funding deal that puts money in the hands of Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, and this violent agency. Defund and abolish ICE now.
Baseball is coming ...
Pitchers and catchers start reporting this week! #SpringTraining
wild night here in NJ as the primary for NJ-11 gets called for Malinowski - before Mejia takes the lead.
It always feels weird to do self-promotion when everything is what it is, but I have this long-running podcast that comments on all of this through the microcosm of baseball. I should stop keeping it a secret. It's called the Infinite Inning and you can find it most everywhere podcasts live.
That's funny, because, back when that song was new, that was my least-favorite song.
The US immigrant population generated more in taxes than they received in benefits from all levels of government every year from 1994 to 2023.
The Cato study provides the first-ever 30-year analysis of the fiscal effects of immigration on government budgets.

Interesting. I've been doing the 16:8 thing for almost a year now and have lost significant weight, but for me it's only about calorie restriction, and I associate any other benefits with the resulting weight loss. The restriction comes from skipping a meal & limiting snacking to between two others.
Congrats! Looking forward to reading it.
Ah, okay. Thanks for your work.
Thatβs not a complete list, because we know Ohtani was denied insurance to pitch. Still, are there *no* other non-Latin players who have been denied? Thatβs a bad look for the tournament and the insurance company.
And deservedly so. Thanks for bringing this to my attention:

Reds (1981) Warren Beattyβs crowning achievement as a filmmaker is this true story of an epic romance between two American journalists set against the rise and curdling of Bolshevism in the U.S. and Russia in the 1910s. Engaging for 3+ hours thanks to good humor & Diane Keatonβs co-lead performance.
The Devil and Miss Jones (1941) Pleasant left-wing fantasy from writer Norman Krasna about a grinchy billionaire who goes undercover among his employees to put down a labor movement & his heart grows three sizes. Excellent cast, strong direction. Great police station scene about nonviolent protest.
Keep calling. Let you Senators, regardless of party, know what you will and won't accept.
Our Dancing Daughters (1928, silent w/ synch sound) A synecdoche for the Roaring Twenties, this opulent flapper melodrama, which (deservingly) made Joan Crawford a star, is great fun before the pre-code frivolity gives way to familiar moralizing in the final act. Anita Page, just 18, also excellent.
Odd Man Out (1947) This one-long-night noir from dir. Carol Reed & Third Man D.P. Robert Krasker is less about James Masonβs doomed IRA chief, his cause, or his fate than about what his presence reveals about the film's deep cast of "supporting" characters (most veterans of Dublinβs Abbey Theatre).
The Full Monty (1997) A crowd-pleasing hit because of its combination of titillating concept, tame execution & likeable, Robert Carlyleβled cast, this working-class British comedy is shallow & middlebrow. Pulling every punch, itβs just enough to make grandma blush (if she can parse the dialect).
