MoCCA is Dan's hometown indie show and I'm so pleased that we can help share his name and support artists. I miss you Dan. I hope that you knew how much you were loved in comics.
Dan had much closer friends, but I cherish our many comics chats and his perpetual support of Athenaeum. His last message to me was telling me that he was going into hospice AND to check up on a commission.
As many of you know, Dan was diagnosed with cancer and passed away about a year later. Dan was a huge champion of both mainstream and Indie comic art. I don't know if folks in the indie scene truly understand how much he did behind the scenes to bring significant attention to our world.
We are celebrating the life of original art collector @dtmnyc.art at MoCCA this year by providing an Athenaeum Gives Grant in his name to a tabling artist! I am providing $1500 and we are also taking donations. We are currently at $2825! If you would like to contribute, please send me a message.
