We live in an era in which everything and everyone is dispensable.
During tough times, I return to Cioran, my favorite melancholic in residency,
" timid, devoid of dynamism, the food is inept at communicating itself. Evil, much more zealous, seeks to transmit itself, and succeeds because it possesses the double privilege of being fascinating and contagious."
What is wrong with these individuals and this system? There is no longer any sense of humanity....

Here is an AI ethics article I wrote , arguing that the standard model of responsibility collapses when applied to ai-mediated acts.

Today my university went remote. I am still experiencing ptsd from COVID *era, when I taught remotely and spoke for months at the time in front of a screen with rarely anyone else on screen, as it was yet, not possible to impose a camera on policy. #remoteclasses
Lots to be proud of, great future ahead for this young tennis player.
Brava!!!
Writing academic text often feels like a Sisyphean labor; brief flashes of progress are followed by the daunting realization of how much work remains. #statingtheobvious

Beauty. Who will get the money back? Not the consumers , but the companies that transferred the cost to the consumer, it was a scam since day 1.
βAbolition has been the correct response to anything that represents a moral catastrophe for our people and our democracy, but I have found this can strike people as too extreme.β
It looks like a stressful match. We can all lose our gentleness when under stress....
Idiotas!
If thereβs one thing we learned from the Book of Job, itβs that retributive theological justice doesn't govern this world.... Hehe
Iβm not usually a fan of superhero movies or TV shows, but I absolutely loved this. To me, it felt like a critique of the complexities black actors face in Hollywood. Beyond the social commentary, the 'odd couple' dynamic was great and the acting was fantastic. It was a pleasure to watch.
With Coco always...:(
The new tech generation sounds exactly like the old tech generation, which is exactly the same as the old old (later 90s) teach generation. We seem to be amazed at the shlop (slop ultra), but that has been the driving principle since day one :) harpers.org/sections/let...

I anticipate the slow downfall of Anthropic , somehow it seems, that the current administration is not a fan.
And yes,.... sociopathic...
An incoherence in thinking....
I struggle with the conflation of "ethics" with "morality". Yes, the two words, often, can be used interchangeably when used as adjectives, but never used interchangeably as nouns. No matter whether film theory or whatever else...
Haha writing is hard, philosophy is great :)
I always feel that things are much more complex than they are framed to be...but I agree we should not live in a society where health care costs (traditional or not) burdens financially families....
However, the narrowness of their ethical understanding stuns meβespecially the way they equate ethics with 'values' (subjective preferences). Ethics, contrary to popular belief, is not subjective, simplistic, or absolutist; it functions objectively.
I am constantly struck by moments of pronouncements from former AI engineers for some well-known AI companies. They broadcast vague observations about the 'state of nature' of humanity and allude to a looming crisis, subtly weaving in a perceived ethical breakdown. futurism.com/artificial-i...
Fantastic job , so happy for Mboko
