The trick for me is being able to target unearned wealth, without hugely penalising risk takers. It’s one of the reasons that intellectually I think inheritance tax is a good tax. But look how much it’s hated.

Taxing wealth is a non-trivial problem. @danneidle.bsky.social is good on this. youtu.be/196OeIODIzY?...
Do you think there might be any negative consequences to such a policy?
I certainly think the top rate of tax could go up another 5% (to the rate under Thatcher), though I’d also abolish the 100k tax trap. But, like it or not, that isn’t going to raise enough. The base rate needs to go up too.
Because I have hundreds of replies to one post
You’re the one repeating yourself
Because amongst other things I lay hedges, plant trees, create wildflower meadows, practise regenerative agricultural practices.
Fair enough - but it’s the answer that Polanski has consistently given to how he’s going to pay for things. What are the other options being put forward?

That *is* a decent policy
Thanks - it is the only fiscal policy he bangs on about though. What are his detailed fiscal plans?
OK - that was badly phrased. But the idea that you can solve all the problems of the UK by taxing the rich more is just as doomed to failure as being horrible to immigrants - neither will *work*
“Tweaking taxation” is exactly what Polanski is proposing

Sorry. Please educate me on his detailed fiscal plan to cover the spending he envisages.
