I fixed my stupid sampling skill issues, and now Adaptive Sampling converges almost 25% faster. Hell yeah

I feel like it shouldn't be hard to lock ads to a fixed size window in an article. The text jumping as I'm reading is super frustrating.

I've almost got adaptive sampling working...but with the current repeating pattern issues, it's worse than the regular sampler. Of course.

Looking forward to the inflation caused by yet another blockage of shipping in the middle east being blamed on all incumbents worldwide again.

Real-time Rendering with a Neural Irradiance Volume
Delivering fast inference (~1ms/frame), a tiny memory footprint (1-5MB), 10x quality gains over probe-based methods @ equivalent mem budgets, bringing neural rendering within reach of consumer hardware without RT or denoising.

It's C++, so this might only be useful for someone else watching the thread, but I think this was specifically designed to do exactly this question. bsky.app/profile/demo...

Needlets are spherically localized, fall off exponentially and really do form a Parseval Tight Frame. It's a mystery why we keep using Spherical Harmonics when those ring something terrible.

Gambonanza has some serious polish, and the Balatro-but-chess idea is pretty well executed. Might be a bit easy though, I won on my third run.

I would really like it if the next one of these new stars of the Democratic party, fully media-savvy and motivated and of my generation, would show up where I could actually vote for them. Instead of just sitting here going, "that looks nice"

Well, that's the limit of my knowledge here! If it is memory latency, maybe there's an opportunity to hide the latency with some reorganization?

Pros of shuffling my rays to Morton order instead of linear order: significantly faster frames! Cons: converges slower. :-|

A picture of a fluffy Siberian cat. She's standing on a cat tree, lit with a soft light from the side such that it highlights her fur, but there's also enough diffuse light that her eyes are lit extra clearly. In short, it's a Dan pretty photo of this cat.
Damn my cat looks good

Dungeon Crawler Carl book 1 finished! It was a fun read, and it feels like there's a bit more to the heart of this story than I would've guessed from the synopsis. Certainly some eye rolls, but there's a real core to it.

I'm digging into various options for a low discrepancy sequence for path directions, and boy is this a rabbit hole. R2 seemed pretty good, but in high dimensions maybe one of these scrambled sobol sequences? Anyone have opinions on this?
