Step 4: Shape it into a sphere (because SCIENCE)
That much diamond would make a sphere about:
~5.5 km (3.4 miles) across
That’s basically:
• A mountain-sized diamond
• Bigger than many cities
• Easily visible from space

Step 3: Turn the carbon into diamond
Diamond density ≈ 3,500 kg per cubic meter
Volume of diamond:
3 × 10¹⁴ kg ÷ 3,500 kg/m³ ≈ 8.6 × 10¹⁰ m³

Step 2: How much atmosphere is that?
Total mass of Earth’s atmosphere ≈ 5.15 × 10¹⁸ kg
145 ppm of that works out to roughly 7.5 × 10¹⁴ kg of extra CO₂.
But diamonds are made of carbon, not CO₂.
Carbon is 12/44 of CO₂ by mass, so that leaves us with about:
~3 × 10¹⁴ kg of carbon

Let’s do the math. (Please check my math).

Step 1: How much extra CO₂ is in the air?
Pre-industrial atmosphere: ~278 ppm
Today: ~420+ ppm
Extra: about 145 ppm
