In Japanese, numbers can be substituted for similar sounding characters, and is a common form of wordplay. 3 Can be exchanged for ミ(mi), and 9 for ク(ku)!

The same thing can be used for Zaku (ザク) from Gundam. Today is also Zaku Day, which is where Miku + Zaku comes from.
