the hall of fame generally looks at careers rather than blips on the radar. and i agree - i dont even think ohtani, if he retired today, should be in the hall.

when people talk about an ace they generally mean someone who they can project can lead a first division club in a given season.

so for you, an ace is about their past body of work, not the potential to be the best pitcher on a team in an given year.

so youd say doc gooden in 1984 was not an ace. what about in 1985 when he threw maybe the best season of mlb pitching in history?

if it’s “the first year” they couldnt possibly have all those accolades. 6+ war in his first full year would count for me.

yep, id rather the mets let one of the kids try out in that spot on the 26 man anyway.

yup. semien will be a huge upgrade at 2b and will play there everyday. if the mets signed arreaz it would be as a bench bat.

just the top part - i dont think the padres will trade tatis and thats a yankee fan. soto to 1b this year makes some sense if he’s down to do it.

2. Acuna is a AAAA ballplayer. He is not a prospect anymore, and he has no place on the pro squad.

It was a bargain deal for a change of scenery, a bounce back candidate who at a minimum provides elite defense.

3. ⁠soto is our starting 1b - polanco actually is our DH not 1b.
4. ⁠trade senga and/or petersen
5. ⁠trade for or sign 1 or 2 more outfielders (duran, austin hayes) with the assumption that soto wont be out there like at all.

interestingly, members of the nats leadership helped draft many of the players they chose, when they were part of the rangers FO.

similarly, guess who is a special advisor to the brewers? billy eppler, the guy who drafted jett williams and drafted sproat (the first time)

the rangers second best prospect wasnt even on the top 100 prospects list.

mets have a much less intense gap in winning but it’s exasperated by who we cohabitate with and the media who continue to push a “lol mets” narrative which for obvious reasons triggers people.

every mets fan grew up with the most intolerable genus of sports fan on the planet. the yankee fan. the most entitled living human beings who’ve ever lived.

the mets never win and we’re ridiculed.
