An ussie with the Rev. Drew Harmon and some of the clergy present this evening for the Celebration of New Ministry at Christ Church Episcopal in Savannah as they mark his call as their 42nd Rector. #episcopal ⚓️
Thanks for knowing when you were at your limit and stepping back. Embodiment stinks and yet attending to what your body tells you matters, my friend.
Victoria and I enjoyed a pleasant visit with the congregation of St. John and St. Mark in Albany where we feel quite at home in worship, talking over a meal, and thinking through the transition for them as we are here on the Sunday following the Rev. Teri Hunter’s last week with them. #episcopal ⚓️
What a joy and honor to ordain the Rev. Angela Shelley to the Sacred Order of Priests this evening at St. Thomas in Thomasville. The Rev. Bill Deneke, who was previously a priest of the diocese, preached the sermon. #episcopal ⚓️
Stars over Tybee Island, Georgia, this morning as the Galatic Center, the center of mass, which is the rotational center of the galaxy, is visible now just before dawn. #nikond850 #milkyway
On a Sunday at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Augusta when we gave thanks for the superabundant grace of God our worship was overflowing into the parish hall with lots of confirmations and receptions in a liturgy with three choirs adding to our joyous praise. #episcopal #BishopLogue #DioGA
I really enjoyed meeting ELCA Bishop Kevin Strickland for breakfast this morning as we continue a fruitful partnership. We caught up with each other and sketched out some plans for a project we are working on for the coming year. #episcopal #lutheran ⚓️

So great to be back at St. George’s in Savannah, a congregation I got to know well serving their one Ash Wednesday through Easter almost a decade ago. We are looking to the future as their Rector, the Rev. David Lemburg, will be leaving this year after serving them faithfully since 2018. #episcopal
A full and fulfilling morning of worship at Christ Church Episcopal in Savannah, the Mother Church of Georgia, with two adult baptisms and lots of confirmations and receptions, beautiful music and happy parishioners. They are doing so well with the new Rector, the Rev. Dr. Drew Harmon. #episcopal ⚓️
Seven vestries were on retreat together overnight at Honey Creek. It was good to gather from across the diocese for time in common teaching and worship with time for each vestry to meet on their own as well. I love seeing people form new connections among congregations. #episcopal ⚓️
Victoria and I made our visitation to St. James in Quitman, where our diocesan Chancellor, the Rev. Jim Elliott is the Rector. It always feels like tagging home base as they were my first real parish in August 2021. It was great to have Archdeacon Yvette Owens with me today as well. #episcopal ⚓️
I am thankful for the Rev. Michael White’s excellent sermon for the funeral today for the Rev. Liam Collins as we gave thanks for as fine a priest as has ever served. It is always an honor to officiate a funeral for clergy, in this case for my spiritual director and friend. #episcopal ⚓️
How Long by Mark Miller. This video I created with Mark in 2014 feels all too relevant even in different circumstances than Ferguson, Missouri.

What a treat to be at St. Francis of the Islands in Savannah on the day after I professed vows as a Franciscan. They are doing well with the Rev. Ian Lasch as their Rector working with their awesome lay leaders. #episcopal ⚓️
I professed life vows in the Third Order Society of Saint Francis at Grace Cathedral in Charleston today as a part of a regular meeting of our local fellowship.

As I said in the parish hall on Sunday, to say I married Victoria for her collards and cornbread would not be accurate, but neither would it be right to pretend her cooking was not part of my falling in love. And St. Matthew’s folks knowing how much I enjoy them and giving them to us is also love. ⚓️
Collards and Cornbread - a love story
Victoria left St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Savannah with the gift of a big bag of collards freshly harvested. Today, we had collards and cornbread with a dab of leftover red beans and rice for our main meal which is lunch. #episcopal ⚓️
The Episcopal Churches in Savannah marched together in Savannah’s MLK Parade. We ended with a meal and a Eucharist at St. Matthew’s Church. #episcopal ⚓️
One Lord, One Faith, One Convocation - parishioners and clergy from the Southeast Convocation of the Diocese of Georgia worshipped together in the gym at Seldon Park in Brunswick. So much energy and joy in being together to worship and fellowship. #episcopal ⚓️
So good with a baptism and confirmations, beautiful music, and a reception and a wonderful lunch after. My sermon seemed to work, so there is that.
It was a joyful service this morning at St. Patrick’s in Albany as I had the honor of baptizing the Rev. Kyle and Mary Rose Mackey’s younger son, Owen, and confirming and receiving several other parishioners. #episcopal ⚓️
We held a final Eucharist this afternoon at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Dawson, a solemn occasion for this faithful congregation founded in 1957. #episcopal
I trust that priority is reflected in my actions of the past year as reflected in this journal as I take seriously the examination in the ordination of a bishop will you sustain
your fellow presbyters and take counsel with them; will you guide and strengthen the deacons and all others who minister…
Wonder what an Episcopal bishop actually does?

Joyful anticipation marks this Fourth Sunday of Advent and Victoria and I enjoyed being with the Church of the Epiphany in Savannah, which meets in the diocesan chapel. My office is over their All Angels food pantry. This group has such a heart for serving our neighbors in need. #episcopal ⚓️
I have joined the Wake Up Dead Man fan club - the best of a great series. Yes, I was surprised to find a faithful priest well portrayed in a locked room mystery that works.
A lovely third Sunday of Advent at St. Luke’s in Rincon, Georgia, with a confirmation and reaffirmation of faith. #episcopal ⚓️
