More of this, please. When we follow children's interests, we teach them their questions matter, plus they build social skills, learn how to learn, and are ultimately more ready for more structured learning on down the road.

Yes please! The more our students see themselves as scientists, the more likely they'll be to make good decisions for themselves and their children, if they have them.
Hereβs a way to help middle school students investigate the information around them! π΅οΈ

When we start by asking people what they want to protect, we can find out what they're afraid of losing and (if possible) ensure that it's protected or if loss is inevitable, appropriately honored or replaced with the input of the folks who are going to miss it.
Can I add more more point? Ask teachers, staff, students, and parents what they want to preserve and protect. Sometimes much-appreciated processes, systems, rituals, and traditions unintentionally fall by the wayside during times of change.
There are lots of reasons students worry. Here are a few ways to help. #edusky

I love my job- the people are amazing, I like the work, and generally weβre on the right side of history, organizationally speaking. Knowing I wonβt get fired for posting wildly controversial things like βdonβt zip tie childrenβ & βfacism is badβ is really just icing on the cake, you know?
I graded ALL the papers that came in this week!! #EduSky #Teachers

Iβve had a record number of these in my garden this year plus more bees than Iβve seen in years. Apparently tickseed and blue top vervain (I think thatβs what that is?) are their favorites. π±

Routines, language, events, projects, or processes that become part of the identity of your class. Sometimes they carry over from year to year, sometimes theyβre unique to a single class.
Speak to me of classroom rituals and traditions, #EduSky π
What are your favorites?
How do you find time for them in when there's so much to do?
(Not that Iβm condoning actual elephant eating. For these purposes, letβs consider this a life-size chocolate elephant.) π
You know how to eat an elephant, right?
Big problems arenβt so hard if you break them into pieces.

We try to get back to folks in 2-3 weeks, but sometimes it takes a bit longer. Itβs ok to reach out again to be sure, though!
This little dude (Bluebird) made his first landing right onto my AC unit this morning. He was not thrilled. #Birds
