with all the deskilling and gell-manning (etc) we're gonna get from automated thinking machines, now is the time for the 'tools for thought' crowd to make tools that help you think things through for yourself.
tools to do *more* hard thinking.
it should feel effortful. cherish that feeling.

Oh Ann
We all have the shame of our many mistakes. All of us.
How will we turn that shame into motivation to listen better, to do better, to care better?
(I am working intensely on my version of this perhaps-universal story.)

How lovely, Susan.
We were delayed by a long day of travel.
day break water's edge--
suddenly from winter's fog
geese break the silence
as a #kenning (maybe)

Re-identification is becoming more and more feasible as the surveillors combine datasets. The safest way to protect personal data is not to collect it.

Your estuary of words, with its stones and grasses, is very beautiful - thank you!
If we live in an estuary of words,
what tides' rhythms
move and nourish us?
I also loved the middle stanza, which could, by itself, be a tanka.

While I've appreciatively quote-posted the last line of Kevin's poem, I wonder if witness might also recall or even proclaim witness?

Thank you @maggiesmithpoet.bsky.social & Kevin, I'm trying to understand the eating & the feeding. The eating consumes the plants. The feeding preserves the witness. Similarly to the depth charge that cleans the quiet harbor, I'm confused by destruction/consumption as preservation/proclamation?

THIS. AI might work for a lit review if you are testing some tired, obvious relationships. It is not going to build theory for you, especially drawing upon disparate literatures and epistemologies.

π£New paper !
Designing collaborative generative AI is difficult precisely because most generative AI systems are built around efficiency, speed, and individual productivity.
In our conditionally accepted #CHI26 paper, we ask: what happens when those assumptions break down?

as the facct rebuttal period is in session, let me repeat what i've always said: critique is service! identifying & mapping the problem space is in & of itself a legitimate scientific contribution. we canβt proceed to βsolveβ a problem if we don't have a clear & comprehensive understanding of it
