This isn’t a final decision yet, and work wouldn't start immediately – but being recommended for Visitor Levy funding is a big milestone for the project.
We’ll share updates after the committee meeting on the 11th of February. 3/3
The LLAP team
This recommendation will now be considered through the Council’s formal committee and budget processes over the coming weeks. 2/3
We’ve got an exciting update to share…
Yesterday, the Council published a report recommending the Leith Links Activity Hub as one of the projects to receive Visitor Levy funding. 1/3
Earth in Common are kicking off 2026 with a community fundraiser at Leith Community Croft!
Croftathon is an inclusive, community endurance event where every lap of the Croft – walked, run or wheeled – will help raise vital funds & keep this much-loved space thriving.

Over the next few days, we’ll be posting highlights from the newly published Leith Links Activity Hub RIBA Stage 2 Report.
First off: The updated masterplan
This shows how the full activity hub could be laid out and the range of features and facilities being proposed.
The designs – Part II
The Thriving Greenspaces team have published wider landscape designs for the Leith Links Activity Hub as part of a RIBA Stage 2 report.

More planting days this Friday and Sunday at Mill Lane and Dalmeny Street Parks.
Looks like we might just get a dry weekend – perfect time to head along and give it a shot! 🌤️
A huge amount of craft, collaboration and care has gone into shaping this new riverside space – led by @wolct.bsky.social project in collaboration with The Edinburgh Wheels Project & Odyssey Skateparks.
Stunning set of construction shots by Chris Campbell of The Dock @ Coalie Park – Leith’s brand new skate area.
You’ll find The Dock tucked in beside Great Junction St bridge, right by the Water of Leith walkway.
This is a huge win for our community and proof of what’s possible.

LEITH IS BACK ON THE MAP!!
After months of anticipation, the barriers are down and The Dock @ Coalie Park is OPEN! 🎉
Leith finally has its first permanent outdoor skate area thanks to @wolct.bsky.social in partnership with The Edinburgh Wheels Project & Odyssey Skateparks.
ELGT are working with the Thriving greenspaces team to make improvements to 3 small parks in Leith. This includes Mill Lane, Junction Street and Dalmeny Street Parks. We are working with the The Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society to run community planting days in November.
This is a really good alternative now the crossing's in place (felt like running the gauntlet before). Shows how small changes can have a big impact.
The section around London Road is slightly convoluted, but, otherwise, it’s a pleasant ride and avoids mixing with traffic on all but the quietest of streets.
And here's the route – it connects lots of green spaces and is ideal for children and less confident cyclists.
We're huge fans of Skelf! And always surprised by how many people haven't gone along for a shot - it's only a 30 min, almost traffic-free cycle from Leith Links 🚲

A street lighting column where a basketball net has been fixed to let kids play
Controversial opinion: Councils should install basketball hoops on street lights instead of electric car chargers. #playstreets #streetsforkids
It’s easy to get to by bus or bike, and just a short walk from recently relocated The Pitt, Silverknowes Promenade and Granton Castle Walled Garden.
Another good example of what can happen when derelict spaces are reimagined for people – and well worth a visit.

Key features of the space include:
🛝 Play equipment for different age groups
🏓 Table tennis table
🪑 Social seating
🐋 Public art
🚶 Inner ring walk
🟢 Circular grass area
Built in and around the iconic steel frame that’s stood overlooking the waterfront for over a century, the circular park is part of the council’s £1.3bn Granton Waterfront regeneration project.
Granton’s new Gasholder 1 Park opened earlier this year, transforming a neglected landmark into a new public space.
Additional designs for the wider landscape and initial building designs are expected soon. We'll share any updates as soon as we 're able to. 4/4

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with lots of constructive ideas and suggestions. We'll continue to engage with the project team where helpful and support the process wherever we can. 3/4
