Ha ha yeah. They didn't appear last night either.π

Sort of. I generally don't go in with any preconceived plan. Mind you my proudest moment was a few years ago winning SA 40m QRP and setting a new Oceania record with 1 qso and 2 points.
Congrats on the record!
Extremely tough. We lose out on multipliers especially on the low bands and the points system doesn't do us any favours. Saying that contesting is not a big thing here. There were 15 ZL entries which is huge for us.

Mucked up the Jessie Owen question.
Now admittedly it is just about impossible not to win a CQ WW CW certificate from ZL but nevertheless I managed 1st in Oceania for the 80m single op assisted high power category. And OK there were only two entries and I only made 79 qsos but hey...π
Spent the evening looking for J51A on 80m CW hoping for greyline to do its thing. They changed to 60m just as they were starting to come up then to rub salt into the wound 40m and 30m CW *sigh* #DX
Back tomorrow...

It's a common sight down here and only disappears for around a month or so. The public holiday started in 2022.
Also known as Matariki here in New Zealand. It's reappearance over our horizon marks Maori New Year and is a public holiday here.

Thanks! I just need them (and the sun) to play ball.
Nice work! I haven't heard them yet but got them on two bands when they were there a couple of years ago so not too bothered. Managed J51A on 40m CW, first call on their grayline so happy with that. Now just need 80m!

At least!
The thing is, all I see is something to hang an antenna off.
I think I need therapy.

Got J51A with one call on 15cw which bonkers considering it took several days to get my first QSO. This hobby is mad sometimes. #DX
Finally worked J51A. Surprisingly beat out the EU zoo on 30m. Thought I'd missed my chance earlier at our greyline on 40m. Was mucking around in the shack when they popped up on 30m. Good times. #DX
I've been running/biking for the last 30 years. Best stress reliever ever.
Yep out on field day. I'm doing the 40m CW section for the club. It is currently 6.20am and 9c. Not sure why I am here!
Finally found a good use for a baofeng
I can't see anything going wrong with this.
Ha yeah true. It's been an EU fest so far. Being 80m I thought I had a decent shot as it was daylight in most of EU.
I have been trying to work J51A on CW right on grayline the last few nights. There sunrise is 4min before our sunset. No luck so far.π
What's the world map app on the middle screen?
I've had it up and running for 6 hours without any issues (tempting fate I know). I've got it running on an old model B pi.
I see the sunspot number is zero for the first time in four years. Things will need to pick up a bit for the SSB section!
HamClock running!
Go to hamclock.com to get the instructions you need to update your Raspberry Pi HamClock. Basically one line is all you will need to add. To the /etc/hosts file.

Managed 14 hours in the #ARRLCW contest and clearly got the best conditions. 10m was hopping from the start and OK the next morning. 20m and 15m started well but slowed badly as the K index hit 5. The low bands not so good. Great fun though!
How did you go @g0mfr.bsky.social?
