Why not?

Former Californian and former Oakland A's fan. Now Nueva Mexicana and Isotopes fan. Hope is a discipline and not a replacement for action. "It's stupider than you think" is my affirmation for most of what 2025 USA will be like.
Why not?
Markwayne is actually a noble title, and is the Oklahoma equivalent to "Marquis," and may be passed on at the same time your father gives you his car dealership
Misquoting Orwell is the perfect end to her tenure
And Republicans got angry with Michelle Obama for stepping outside her lane by having a vegetable garden. We are, truly, living in the stupidest of times. . .

A minor league hockey team had a wiener dog race. Zero thoughts, just vibes and absolute chaos. A thing of beauty
All I can think about is Jeff Bezos saying that he slashed jobs at the Washington Post β including those of foreign correspondents in the Middle East β based on "the data," and a few weeks later a whole war breaks out in the Middle East that these laid off folks would have covered as true experts.

It's more obvious when they use bombs, but it really should be stressed that this administration had already killed well over 400,000 children and 200,000 adults before they even started using their military.
The scale of death here is difficult to wrap your head around.
We are At War now, according to President Bush, and I take him at his word. He also says this War might last for "a very long time." Generals and military scholars will tell you that eight or 10 years is actually not such a long time in the span of human history - which is no doubt true - but history also tells us that 10 years of martial law and a wartime economy are going to feel like a Lifetime to people who are in their twenties today. The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed. That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks.
From Hunter S. Thompsonβs ESPN page 2 column one week after 9/11.
A long time ago, I used to know a lot about foreign-imposed regime change (FIRC) and study them.
I guess that makes me qualified to write a thread about them, especially in wake of Trump bombing Iran.
So here goes nothing. π§΅
Itβs not supporting the troops to send them off to kill and die in an illegal war of aggression whose purpose is to make sure that their votes donβt count.
stop calling us nazis just because we are invalidating IDs and rounding people up based on their skin color and putting them in concentration camps and sending them off to foreign gulags and using all that nazi imagery and banning books and dont forget about all the pedophilia. so just stop alright
Wouldnβt it be wonderful if we could actually hold *white people* to the same standards as are always expected of Black people?
Sometimes my wife asks me why instead of seeing movies like Terminator or Black Mirror as a cautionary tales, tech companies are actually trying to build that future?
That's when I tell her it's worse because Skynet never referred to itself as "MechaHitler" before being given access to nukes.
Fascism is here and yet we insist on continuing to make things. Keep creating. It's so important. Do not let the fascists colonize your imagination or curtail your creativity.
JD Vance personally invited Pope Leo to the U.S. 250th celebration on the 4th of July. Today the Vatican announced Leo will be spending the day with migrants instead.
This is well worth your time. (This is real and it is happening.)
I was gonna pull out some quotes, but you should read the whole thing. (I'd say most of this isn't new to us in Minnesota but I find it helpful to see how others frame it and again, to get confirmation we aren't exaggerating.)
This seems like an incredible athletic feat and I guess it hardly mattered to NBC
Congrats to BART rider and Oakland legend Alysa Liu on winning a gold medal at the Olympics and making the Bay Area proud!
We can do this here, too. We can investigate and arrest people in the Epstein files regardless of their political party or proximity to power.

as we all know, librarians are always asking people to provide documentation beyond a library card. just to be sure.

Donβt upload your medical records to any LLM.
Thatβs fucking insane.

Ongoing, staggering betrayal of the West, of democracy, of America itself. We are now functionally aligned with Russia, and not Europe. And why? What in the world is in it for us?
All of this is making us less prosperous, less safe, and less free and our leaders should be fighting it far harder.
Again, I hope everyone likes Lost Decades, because the lesson Democrats have learned is to never try for full employment & ambitious policy in response to massive economic crises, bc youβll get destroyed for single digit inflation you didnβt even cause & told you didnβt care about the working class
