So it's not 100% foolproof. But we had students who came begging saying they copied it into Word themselves and it was there and then we cut them some slack.
Yes it's a sentence at the end of a paragraph in the prompt, but the font is in white so the students can't see it in Word or pdf. However, the issue is that when they paste it into another program themselves, it could bring that text. But it works great for flagging people copying into chat gpt.
I realize that the government shutdown affected NSF, but my observation after submitting with the rolling deadline is that you just miss the panel based on past deadlines (eg 8/15) 🤷♀️ It looks like we won’t have reviews on something submitted in September until June.
It really, really does not work anywhere close to this way.

Lol I got that idea from another political scientist 😂 I initially tried adding “what would Batman say”, but newer versions of chat gpt ignore that. They can’t figure out that this senior IR scholar who wrote on this topic doesn’t belong.
We get about 15 of 325 students that clearly used AI to write their papers in intro IR. We embed a real IR scholar’s name in white text that isn’t visible & take deductions if it appears. Now some might notice the difference once the prompt is copied into an AI program, but it’s relatively low.
I’m in the “can’t sleep” phase of this war. Thinking about everyone I know living in (or deployed to) the Middle East and hoping they stay safe. I really hope T doesn’t have the “stomach” to escalate this conflict.

T has a long history of throwing women in his administration (and beyond) under the bus, so I can't have much sympathy for the women this happens to now. They know what is likely going into it.

Time for Zelensky to demand that Hungary gets in line and that the US restores military aid in exchange for any help on this front.
