We were invited to screen Still Playing at Amiens Jail in France as part of the cultural activity
They asked me to take off my Kufiya claming its religious symbol
I explained itβs part of my culture worn by people regardless of their religion
I refused to take it off & the screening was cancelled

Mohamed Mesbah and Don Quichotte films present "Still Playing", a documentary about Palestinian game developer @rasheedabueideh.bsky.social's quest to loudly tell his people's stories through games, in a world where the violent powers that be have decided his people cannot have a voice.

It was a true honor to give the keynote at DiGRA 2025 at the University of Malta.
The audience was deeply moved, some in tears and many asked: βWhat can we do to help Palestine?β
That question alone meant so much.

I usually watch videos, tutorials, and talks at 2x speed, But for this one, I watched it at 0.7x
Yes, itβs that important if you're in this industry.

Wonderful interview by @zaidkriel.bsky.social over at South Africa's IGN franchise, IGN ZA. Still having a fading hope that IGN International or Gamespot will share the story eventually too - for now, I'd appreciate if y'all went and read this.

Our own @zaidkriel.bsky.social spoke with Palestinian indie Dev @rasheedabueideh.bsky.social about his new game, Dreams on a Pillow, the tale of the 1948 Nakba. Are video games the right space for this kind of story? Rasheed thinks so.
My first feature of 2025 & it was a real struggle. Got major anxiety writing this worried I would get the story wrong, sound biased, get the wrong attention from the wrong people. But it's here now and I hope it helps. Please share. Thank you @rasheedabueideh.bsky.social for trusting me with this.
