it was so hard to sell my 1st in an industry that favours self-help over more nuanced non-fiction that isn't necessarily spoon-feeding you all the answers. & that's just memoir. I've been really lucky to find a publisher for my 2nd β but, again, I still felt a conservatism that differs to fiction

Hive mind bluesky: I'm on the hunt for non-fiction books that explore art, the female gaze & the body (the nude) β on a par with Frances Borzello's 'Seeing Ourselves'. This is for my own non-fiction book, so no fiction please. But essays are welcome, too. Any recommendations?

Chris Fleming Prances, Scuttles, and Undulates Onto HBO
In a new standup set, the comedian uses oddball physicality to locate the weird in the everyday.
I bought tickets to Chris Fleming's stand-up show in 2024 & it was hands down one of the best I've ever seen. A kind of elasticity you rarely get to watch on stage. Equal parts surreal & clear-sighted. Is he the "weird" one, or are we? Chuffed to see him doing this well. Looks like 2026 is his year!

Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads:
The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you.
And our governments are very much the same...
- Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist
Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.

Thoughtful and sensitive and Iβm always appreciative of filmmakers who think about what theyβre including and why. Beautiful to look at, too. The split screen between then and now really moved me.
