Thank you to the FL Senate's Education Committee for the opportunity to testify on chronic absenteeism. It was great to see this important topic being taken up, be able to share research happening at @UF_COE, and share the floor with innovative district leaders.

GenAI is extremely prone to hallucinate. If people use LLMs to ask questions they donβt know the answer to, how would they be able to spot a mistake? And now think what can happen if we implement these systems in areas where truth and detail matter e.g. investment decisions, stock market or medicine
only after i had to tag you. matter fact. let me tell NCSU to edit that shoutout lol. please hold
show me the lie??
@drckingdom.bsky.social leaving me on read. i used to be one of your favs. ππππ
embarrassing
3 manuscripts in peer review no manβs land - stuck between editor / reviewer assignment.
And this is why you have to have multiple irons in the fire to hit publication output goals
itβs a shame considering itβs literally the SIG for design cases
Reviews that donβt appropriately evaluate based on the method have been killing me lately. If I had a dollar for every review of a qual paper that criticized a lack of generalizabilityβ¦
Similar to when a systematic review was rejected because the reviewer wanted to see the data and a methods section and didnβt understand that PRISMA is the method and the data were the included studies
yea itβs been an ongoing problem. I hate to see it impact a student - this was their project and their only submission. The other reviews were 4s and 5s so really unfortunate that one reviewer gave them all 1s and tanked the proposal
Really unfortunate that a student led project got rejected for AERA b/c one of the reviewers didnβt understand what a design case is. Their feedback was that the lack of empirical data made it a poor proposal - when thatβs not a design case feature or requirement.
lucky! i couldnβt watch :(
Listen, I know people are super busy. But I really encourage y'all to consider volunteering to review for the conferences you attend. My sense is that the quality of reviews has decreased over the years, largely due to experienced reviewers opting out of the review process. We need all y'all.
5 for 5 for the lab. The 2 rejections were student submissions that I was supporting but they werenβt part of the lab submissions. one of the students in my lab had another 3 accepted without me!
woo hooooooo. how many sessions? 20?
If LinkedIn let us mute words and I put in βAIβ, 85% of my timeline would be hidden. And that wouldnβt be a bad thing
I really miss the Academic community we used to have on social media. Conference notification day used to be a fun time. Promoting sessions. making new connections. All gone. Kinda sad really
