Wonderful talk by @ritastrack.bsky.social on the publishing process at Nature Biomedical Engineering @JAX
Couple of things to emphasize. Editors at NBME are incredibly dedicated and carefully vet every paper. Once it goes for review, they are looking to publish, reviewer praise matters to editors!
Can anyone recommend the best available tactile glove systems currently? We are looking for something like the below at a reasonable price ;-)

I laughed out loud when I saw
“AI use statement
The author used Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.5 for research purposes and for editorial feedback after the drafting process.”

This is incredibly powerful testimony.
Ms. Rahman is very tough and clear and was treated horribly.
Warning: I can't watch it without tears of rage.

News from central Jersey: I'm running to represent New Jersey's 12th Congressional District.
By entering the fray, I hope to bring ideas of repairing our frayed republic. Not only to defend it in 2026, but to build something stronger, for generations to come!

Magic Johnson was the grand marshal of the Rose Parade today, and as someone who remembers his November 1991 HIV announcement: if you had told anybody that day that he would be alive and healthy 34+ years later, I don't think they would have believed you. Medicine and research—they work.
One of the biggest moments of my career:
USCIS canceled my client’s naturalization oath ceremony. We filed a lawsuit, went to trial, and the judge swore him in right there in the courtroom!
The devastation I feel about this attack on science in particular is hard to cope with. It’s like watching my dad die all over again. I would do anything to spare someone a death via pancreatic cancer.
He waited 40 minutes for a ticket from Maine State Police, then spent 2 months in a Texas immigration facility
ICYMI — “I identified myself as a U.S. citizen and a veteran, but that didn't matter. ICE Agents smashed my window, sprayed tear gas and pepper spray into my car, dragged me out… this experience violated the very principles I fought to defend.”
🚨 We are recruiting a full-time Research Programmer to push forward several exciting machine learning projects in the lab!
Work on computational behavior and joint neural/behavior models. Start date flexible, can be a pre-grad-school position or longer term.

My teen, who had dreamt of being an astrophysicist, just told me he wants to go to law school because, “Science isn’t going to be a priority in the US in the future…I don’t want a job where I’ll be constantly worried my funding will be taken away.”
Gutting. How many future scientists have we lost?
To be fair, this is a kid who's seen both parents have federal grants terminated this year - hopefully the average young person isn't quite as discouraged (though our current reality warrants it), and even more hopefully we'll rebuild American democracy and science so they won't have reason to be.
One of my students who was very interested in biomedical research and wanted to apply to grad school decided to take the LSAT and apply to law school. The main driver was the uncertainty & turmoil of federally funded research. It’s the first law school recommendation I have written in my career.

Mark Kelly: "This president, when he says things like 'third world countries,' what is he really saying? I think what he's saying is he doesn't want brown people in our country. And that's disturbing. It's un-American."

Science will be much more efficient without scientists.
Universities are being destroyed because we don't NEED them anymore.
Instead, all existing data will be fed to AI "agents" who will mine them to "test new hypotheses" and "generate scientific breakthroughs". 🤨🤢🤮
