After a recent trip to Norwich, I was eager to go back 💚 Yesterday, I headed over to campaign for Tammy Searle, who is working hard for local residents! She is legitimately fantastic, so please do go give her a hand ☺️

The @cambsgreenparty.bsky.social were over at New Shire Hall this morning to fight for improvements to our county’s highways, as they’re in a terrible state ✊ I was delighted to see over £700,000 invested into resurfacing Newmarket Road, which I was there to speak in favour of 💚

I travelled home from France yesterday, spending today getting a bit of rest 😮‍💨 I met such lovely people while I was there! Refugees are no different to any other person; like me, they enjoyed hanging out with their friends, playing some games, and watching Jurassic Park 3 🦖

I’ve had a fantastic weekend in both Calais and Dunkirk, where I’ve been working alongside organisations like Roots to support refugees 💚 The people I met here were wonderful and would be huge assets to our country’s community, but they are treated like demons by the UK media…

ATAMA-HAN-E 🀄️ I am overjoyed to see Hannah Spencer (@greenpartyhan.bsky.social) become the Greens’ newest MP, as she is going to do an amazing job 🥳 Moreover, I suspect that our win in Manchester may be a defining moment in modern British history, a sign of what’s to come…

I’m sad that I can’t make it up to Gorton & Denton today to help out Hannah Spencer (@greenpartyhan.bsky.social) due to two big council meetings, but everybody is wishing her luck from Cambridge 💚 This is a battle between the Greens and Reform - let’s make sure the right side wins ✊

Across the country, Greens are out in the community working hard for residents 💚 Yesterday, Maria and I were out chatting with people living on Ditton Lane, where we reported some fly tipping that we saw 🗑️ At least they put it right next to the bin!

Image: Our letter. The character limit sadly doesn’t let me include the entire thing, however the key bit is this; ‘Police in Cambridgeshire have played a direct role in trying to enforce this unlawful proscription. As late as November, 15 protestors were arrested outside the Guildhall in Cambridge for expressing support for an organisation that the High Court has now ruled that it was unlawful to ban support for. Not only have the police taken illegitimate action suppressing free speech, lowering residents’ faith in them as a policing body, but this has distracted from tackling real threats to our community, including violent crime./ As the Police and Crime Commisioner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, we wish to know: will local police continue to conduct arrests in light of the High Court ruling; how many activists expressing support for Palestine Action have been arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 within our area; and what support will those previously arrested be given?’ ✉️

Today, the @cambsgreenparty.bsky.social county councillors have written to the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to challenge them over the enforcement of the unlawful proscription of Palestine Action locally 🇵🇸

On Tuesday, the @cambsgreenparty.bsky.social were at New Shire Hall to scrutinise next year’s county council budget 💚 Instead of trying to get the best for residents, the Liberal Democrats spent the entire meeting engaging in childish party politics - it was quite embarrassing to watch 🤣🤣

The Greens are preparing to take control of councils up and down the country, putting power back into the hands of residents - but how do we actually DO that? It was amazing to spend the day speaking with other Greens about this important subject ✊

Showing how these ideas can be practically applied to our everyday lives here in Cambridge is important if they’re ever going to be widely accepted locally ☺️
