Reflecting a bit as I start post production on HAPTIC: A ton of prep, long days during production (up to 10/day for cast/crew, 16+/day for Steve and I), and so many adjustments along the way. Now to reset everything and put the best version of this story together. β€οΈ
The reviews for βMelaniaβ are going to be far more entertaining than the movie. What a fabulous headline:
While Donald enjoys spending billions of dollars of taxpayers' money, he is notoriously cheap with his own:
It is past time to be concerned. Unaccountable militia murdering people in cold blood, arresting free press, using government to violate so many of our rights - all under the βhigher authority of religionβ. This is authoritarian and un American.
A thought experiment: What if the government didnβt regulate βmarriageβ at allβand only recognized civil partnerships? Would we actually have fewer conflicts around equality and religion?
Iβm gay and married, btw - not for religious purposes, but for equal protections and rights.
Embracing flexibility with location scouting today. Just when something doesn't work and frustration sets in, another door opens that ends up being a better choice!
Progress is made when you continue to push forward and seek out alternative paths to your goals. π
Hosting parties/dinners/gatherings/happy hours is a lot of work and stressful, but worth it every time. Friends appreciate it and the simple act of getting together recharges my soul.
Nothing makes me happier than making other people happy.
Successful week! Two more locations secured with just a couple more to go. Insurance β , permits β , next up, payroll set up.
Oh the memories there... π Love to see where it started!
Soft, hazy sunlight streams through wooden window frames. A woman dressed in white walks past a single plant between the windows.
One of the tone inspirations for my new film HAPTIC. (From Framset.app) Artist is @nilipek.bsky.social Cinematographer is Arda Uzmez.
The soft highlights against neutral colors for specific scenes will help define grounded reality, calm, and, most important, safety for the lead character.
My first feature is finally happening. At a month into preproduction, it still feels surreal typing that. HAPTIC has been living in drafts, notes, obsessions and dreams. In a couple months, it becomes a reality! Iβm in it.
Creating festival lists this morning for my next two films. Filmmaker friends - Any east coast LGBTQ focused film festivals that youβve had personal experience with and would recommend?
Looking forward to this!
Learning filmmaking, I thought doing horror was where I was meant to be. Eight years in and shifting my focus to queer storytelling has been a more natural, rewarding, and fun process than I could have imagined!
They say βwrite what you knowβ and that has proven to be accurate for me.

Exactly.
House of Guinness Poster Art
Boots Poster Art
Recommending both @netflix.com House of Guinness and Boots both for their predominantly queer storylines but also for the quality storytelling. Just finished binge-watching both and canβt wait for the second seasons!
Scared by the book and the original series when I was younger, I thought Muschietti did the first two reiterations on the big screen justice - loved them. Iβm looking forward to seeing this and love the plan to go back in time for the next two!
LGBTQ+ visibility in storytelling matters now more than ever.
In an environment where our rights are headed backward, our leadership is self-serving and progress is stalled at best, itβs important to make sure that your voice is being heard.
Keep creating!
