The damage is done. Whether this group wants to self-identify or not as Indigenous is now contested because of this scholarβs data. Never mind that my Indigenous colleague has been working as a social worker for nearly two decades and knows his community inside out
Itβs a great example of why white Western scholars should really cease ever being sole PIβs on any projects that comment on marginalized communities they do not have direct relations to. No accountability, just gain for their status as a scholar with fieldwork under their belt.
Just read an article from a white Western scholar who contested the findings of an article researched and written by an Indigenous colleague and myself, advancing a very damaging govβt narrative that this particular Indigenous identity does not exists - but they used βlocal research assistantsβ π
One by one, Europeans mentioned in the Epstein files who still hold political office are beginning to resign or are being forced out of office.
Meanwhile, ruled by an administration almost entirely made up of Epstein associates, the US carries on as if nothing really happened.
This America always existed. These guys were everywhere during Standing Rock, and that was under Obama
This is surreal. 4 Oglala Lakota men kidnapped by ICE in Minneapolis have finally been located. One of them was released but the other 3 are being held at Fort Snelling, a former concentration camp used to imprison Native people incl. the Dakota 38 during Dakota Wars.

Iβm sorry, but it is disgraceful to be an academic who uses this technology to conduct research. It should be prohibited in all of our scholarly institutions, including universities and journals.

The talk of nuclear reactors and permanent settlements on the Moon is sheer patriarchal, colonial hubris. I donβt even know where to start but technocracy and autocracy are clearly merging their paths.

Darren Beattie, fired from the Trump White House in 2018 after it was revealed he attended a white supremacist conference, has just been appointed acting president of the U.S. Institute of Peace, according to the State Department.
Not sure many people believe AI to be a significant contributor to climate change but what I do know is that many articles - which are far from clickbait - do point to a future of GenAI, in particular, being energy and water intensive. The IEA - whose numbers you cite - also states this outright
Happy 4th fellow Americans, some reminders today:
-Not all came to America voluntarily (see slavery, forced servitude)
-Not all want/ed to be part of America (see Indigenous Nations, Treat of Guadalupe)
-Not all want/ed America to be the Land of the Free (see white supremacy, the current President)
I can already hear the meltdowns that the world is becoming too sensitive or too woke. Sorry but an island that imports everything shouldnβt be one of the largest economies in the world. A long overdue reckoning with the past was bound to happen.

In light of FM Swinneyβs apology (and those of other parties) for the Tinker Experiments, just a reminder that we put in 21 recommendations in our report that all stakeholders should put into action. Apologies point out whatβs wrong, actions make things right (with survivors/victims at the helm)
The Church of Scotland has apologized for their role in the Tinker Experiments βOn behalf of the Church of Scotland we offer a heartfelt and genuine apology for these historic wrongs highlighted in the report and carried out in the name of the Church.β www.churchofscotland.org.uk/news-and-eve...

Honoured and grateful to have been part of this work of truth-telling around the βTinker Experimentsβ. Credit must go to Gypsy/Traveller advocates and those survivors/victims who had to endure these injustices in the dark for far too long. An apology is only the start. www.abdn.ac.uk/news/24494/a
π¨BREAKING: After years of campaigning, the Gypsy Traveller community has finally received an apology for the cruel Tinker Experiments.
This is not the end of righting wrongs. The @scottishgreens.org are proud to have raised this in with Parliament, most recently last month.
