It helps the clubs in different ways inc. commercially. It would be impossible to quantify how this "anti-football" narrative impacts that gaining new supporters which is a natural behaviour.

I think it doesn't matter as much in the UK but in terms of global reach I've seen new generation of supporters growing for Arsenal and United during their trophy period, same for Chelski, had seen no support for 115 but started seeing quite a few 115 jerseys, shops, etc during last decade. 1/3
