Zack is doing work experience at a Salvation Army Trading Company Ltd charity shop.
Charity shops raise vital funds for the work of @salvationarmyuk.bsky.social and are places of purpose and relationship where lives can be transformed.
If you have a charity shop in your area, check it out!

We have sunshine and blue skies over London! The first time this year we haven’t had dark clouds above us.
Good morning London! The season of dark and gloom is coming to an end, and spring is around the corner.
A day in the office discussing Naloxone and its role in saving lives. @salvationarmyuk.bsky.social has done lots of work to reduce harm and deaths related to drug use—check out some of the work at salvationarmy.org.uk/addictions

An inspiring story for the @salvationarmyuk.bsky.social team at Chalk Farm, London.
Purpose and relationship transforms lives. It is great read of the power of community as we all seek to reduce, prevent, and end homelessness.

Faithful Witness in a Restless Political Age
“A week is a long time in politics,” Harold Wilson famously observed. In recent months, it can feel as though a day, an hour, even a minute is a long time in politics.

The views from the office are always cool, even on a cloudy day.
Good news for all us SAD people… The sun sets after 5pm from today onwards!
Well this is rather exciting news! I’ll always be a child a heart. 📕

What Is Mission?
Perhaps the invitation before the Church is not to innovate endlessly, but to return to the sending love of God, and to follow Jesus into the lives and communities of those we coexist with.

Homelessness & Inclusion Health Services: Promoting Independence, Not Fixing People
“The nurse’s role is to promote independence.”
And perhaps, in inclusion health, that is both our greatest challenge and our most faithful calling.

Homelessness Is a Public Health Emergency And It’s Time We Treated It Like One
Homelessness must be declared a public health emergency, and it must then be given the funding, resources, and urgent attention that any public health emergency demands.

What if SWEP was activated every night?
Perhaps we need to stop pretending that homelessness only becomes dangerous when the weather turns bad.
Because if SWEP saves lives in winter, then the absence of SWEP costs lives the rest of the year.

Have we normalised homelessness in the United Kingdom?
Ending homelessness is not a pipe dream.
With political will, coordinated policy, and properly funded systems, homelessness can be reduced dramatically.

As the sun rises this morning, remember to look up.
In all that lies ahead today, remember to look up.
If you don’t know which step to take next, remember to look up.

“Snow” in London. Standby for chaos! ❄️
As we arrive at the end of 2025, I’m overwhelmed by the task of reducing, preventing & ending homelessness, and the passion, commitment & dedication shown by our service users, employees, officers & supporters across @salvationarmyuk.bsky.social. Thank you and Happy New Year!
Happy Christmas✨🎄
Who doesn’t love cauliflower cheese with their Christmas dinner, and Yorkshire puddings—they’re a nonnegotiable.
Likewise, love is a nonnegotiable at Christmas. Love, found in Jesus, Emmanuel, God with us.

Daughter 2: “I’m looking for the cyclops carol on YouTube.”
Me: “The cyclops carol? What do you mean?”
Daughter 2: “The cyclops carol is my favourite. I can’t find it on YouTube.”
Dad: *now confused* *trying to work out what she means* “Do you mean the calypso carol?”
Daughter 2: “Yes!”

Why not go all out and commit to ending rough sleeping by 2030?
There are some positives, but overall I believe these plans need to be bolder.
🧵/5 #homelessness
I am also disappointed by the target of halving the number of people sleeping rough by 2030—this doesn’t feel bold or ambitious enough—we know what works and we know that we can end rough sleeping with the right resources and holistic approach.
🧵/4 #homelessness
I think it is excellent to have a commitment that people will not be discharged from hospitals to the streets—this is a vital intervention that will reduce harm—I do however worry what impact this will have on an already strained health & social care system.
