I feel like they tried a soft reset with the burn and time jump in Discovery/Academy but I think that's part of what makes it not great to me. They keep trying to make things new and futuristic while shackled by what they were before instead of just focusing on some of their great characters.
cannot stress enough that "separate the art from the artist" was meant for private individuals reconciling the art they love with its flawed creators and not meant for the ceo of a company driving a dump truck of money up to a bigot's front porch

Ah, so heβs one of those people who thinks coding is βjust typing syntaxβ and not, yβknow, THINKING THINGS THROUGH
The problem with vibe-coding isnβt that people are outsourcing the βtyping syntaxβ part, itβs that theyβre outsourcing the βplanning, logic, and structureβ parts

As procedural geometry gets even more popular more of that will get offloaded to compute shaders and presto. Any Tech Artist competing at the high levels of fidelity should be using Computer Shaders. But rollout has been slow TBH
Game devs haven't kept up with compute shaders because most engines make it technical to do. Unity weirdly being easiest.
Hardware manufacturers stopped putting effort into dedicated geometry shader tech because compute shaders were the more general solution that could replace them.
You can do anything a geometry shader did with a computer shader. Which are under utilized because lots of people don't understand them. So the hardware companies rightfully dropped a specific workflow for a general one. It's just devs not keeping up because it's all so fast.

Cartoon titled "know the work rules". The first panel, labeled "appropriate" depicts Garfield the cat in a business suit leaning around the edge of a cubicle and pointing to a woman at her desk while saying, "coffee lasagna Mondays am I right?" to which the woman responds, hands clasped together, "awww you're so funny" The second panel, labeled "inappropriate", depicts a far side cow leaning around the edge of the same cubicle and speaking with a word bubble which contains only the shapes of the 4 cow tools. The woman fearfully picks up the Phone and says, "hello , complaint department??!"

tbh you can't convince me that these companies didn't decide months or years ago thatβbarring a gangbusters overnight successβthat they were definitely cancelling these games
because otherwise, execs are so comically inept they cannot think more than a quarter ahead
which is like their only job
When we talk about Baby Boomers not getting off the stage: In 1997, the US president was born in 1946.
In 2007, the US president was born in 1946.
In 2017, the US president was born in 1946.
And next year in 2027? The US president will have been born in 1946.

FYI for fellow narrative designers/game writers: the studio in question is Sentona Games and itβs my understanding they are currently interviewing to replace me. Be very careful with them. They were very nice to me and easy to work with right up until I needed the money I was promised.

1st would be to see if it made sense to split it up. Can we gain anything by only having arm or leg animations and mixing them instead of whole character. Hands, eyes, etc.
2nd would be to dynamically assemble the active sprite sheets out of resources. Using a hammer? Only load hammer hand sprites.
"If I was to use ChatGPT for my designs rather than our designer Sean, that's taking money out of the local area into the hands of a multibillionaire ... removing value from the local community and local artists [and] into the hands of some of the richest people in the world."

She's got a little art deco backpack!
These snails live in shallow waters at locations around the world (Hawaii, South Africa, Japan).
