Hey I shared this with a priest at my church (Episcopalian, Anglo Catholic) and she’s going to share it out with some other folks. I wanted to let you know that it’s getting around and is meaningful to people.

Lazy half-assedness is the hallmark of his career and I guess he’s using cutting edge technology to do a quarter-assed job.

No doubt, that’s great stuff. But the end of Doom Patrol, Cliff rescuing Jane from a mundane death, Danny the World, it all gets me right in the feelings.

Doom Patrol is his best work, the run is amazing.

I moved to spier & mackay after being a banana republic customer for years, and the spier & mackay shirts have a full collar with a nice roll. I regret spending my money on the banana republic shirts with their dorky little collars.

I hear you and don’t necessarily disagree on the larger point but I think Fetterman specifically is just Like This

This is something that I think about re: my work as a union steward. My contributions to the greater good are small but real, and more often than not that’s enough to get me through the day. I get to know that I helped someone who was in a tough spot.

“They were careless people, Tom and Daisy—they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.”

Showing me this in 2003 would have killed me stone dead. Simply incredible how much has changed.

I read Jean-Denis Bredin's history of the Dreyfus affair, and it’s remarkable the extent to which the antisemitic proto-fascists are losers, especially failed artists and writers. It’s just an enduring feature of the fascist movement.

I think it would be neat of the gyre was narrowing, falcon and falconer in clear and easy communication, blood-dimmed tide neatly contained, you get the idea.

Completely agree. I said similar elsewhere:

The media could not psychologically process the fact that we’d lost a war, much less that we’d lost it a long time ago. They had an expectation that the US could still call the shots in a country where we’d been defeated.

The press loves wars because it makes them feel like real men. That’s why they never forgave Biden for recognizing the war was lost and getting out. It was one of the best things he did, but they lost their war safaris where they got to wear plate carriers and they were so mad.

Something I wonder about re leftists with right wing parents is whether believing “the Democrats are the root of all evil” becomes a way to simultaneously step away from the parents’ politics while preserving an essential bridge of agreement. It seems like a tough needle to thread.

Months back somebody told me it was suspicious that I could recognize it as a totenkopf because regular dudes like Platner would have no idea it was a SS symbol. Like, ok I guess.

I subscribed to DC Universe Infinite for the express purpose of reading this title. It’s phenomenal. Thank you so much for your work in Vertigo.

I always loved the over the top drama of his art. The movement and energy were so great.

I know it’s likely just confirmation bias, but here in the States I know a number of lefty over-educated types who have gravitated to Anglo-Catholic Episcopal churches in middle age. I’m not sure why that is, though.
