Text reads "3rd december is International day of people with Disability"
text reads "The broader discourse around sex and disability continues to perpetuate the idea that people with disability or chronic illness are unsexy, undesirable, or incompatible with sexual expression. But people with disability are just as diverse in their sexuality, desires, and experiences as anyone else, reflecting the full spectrum of human intimacy found in the wider community. On this International Day of People with Disability, we want to celebrate that diversity and affirm that disabled people are multifaceted human beings whose sexuality is valid, complex, and deeply individual.".
text reads "We also want to acknowledge disabled and chronically ill sex workers, whose identities are often rendered invisible as they navigate the compounded stigma of a profession that is hypersexualised and a disability identity that society frequently deems unsexy. Their voices and experiences deserve recognition and respect. DSWAG—the Disabled Sex Workers Advisory Group—is currently conducting a survey on disabled sex workers’ experiences accessing the healthcare system; you can find the survey via the link in our bio.".
Today on International Day of People with Disability, we acknowledge the disabled and chronically ill community and their right to sexual expression.
Disabled rights are human rights and sexual expression is a human right.
