Out of the Shadows: Public Banking for Municipal Finance
Out of the Shadows: Public Banking for Municipal Finance
The same gender system that is making trans people miserable is behind looksmaxxing and male loneliness. This is an issue that Dems could champion as part of a critique of Trumpism rather than sweep under the rug.
Itβs certainly better than transphobia, but I wish I would hear politicians CELEBRATE trans people instead of downplay their existence.
Whether itβs 2 trans people or 200,000, they are being used as a proxy issue to discipline EVERYONEβS relation to gender, freedom, and public belonging.
"Establishing a public bank that regularly purchases municipal debt... would not only significantly expand a cityβs fiscal capacity to support its communities and environs, but also reclaim regional public finance from a parasitical... bond market."

Indeed I think it is not coincidental that so many aesthetic forms that thematize citation and intergenerational recognition emerge in the context of monetary underinvestment and deprivation.
Everyone is already part of the world, so the politics of job creation cannot be separated from the politics of citation, recognition, and reparations. These are not different struggles but linked questions of participation and repair.

Never felt so happy to be unfree.
A language and politics observation. If you change the name of a dept from dept of defense to dept of war, that dept and its secretary may become more likely to go to war. Sooo, after all this is over, maybe change dept of labor to dept of equality? Equality For All. The EFA, partner to the EPA.

Yet another destructive & self-undermining move.
Tyler & I wrote a follow-up piece, clarifying how our plan to mobilize public banks for municipal finance actually drives public credit away from, rather than deeper into, the anti-democratic & crisis-prone shadow banking sector.
Guess they didn't pay close enough attention in Sunday School.
ICE is one of federal fascism's key fronts, but states can blunt this front by ending collaboration with detention centers. For those of us in New York:
