It feels like another tipping point is being crossed rn… back-&-forth refinery strikes, Tehran in flames. Trump demanding unconditional surrender, de facto boasting of bombing Iranian desal. US & Israel are pushing Iran to fire everything it has at the region’s weakest links. Unimaginably dangerous.
Over 1,400 people in six countries have been killed in an illegal war of aggression and Trump’s opposition here at home is talking about suspending gas taxes.
His own hubris would not lead to such catastrophic effects if others did not acquiesce. A handful of Republicans could, if they chose, bring him down. That they don’t, and seem completely unlikely to do so, suggests a total failure of imagination on their part to say nothing of conscience.

If verified, this violates international law protecting #water systems during wars, and it sets a dangerous precedent, given intense dependence of Gulf countries on desalination.

I did get the ‘67 round. I then got my titers tested in 2019, and they were not high enough to offer good protection. I got a booster. And then last year I checked *again* (new grandbabies in the offing each time) and the measles one was insufficient this time too. Worth it to check if feasible.
That is a misreading of the results. Trump took 49% of the people who voted. But turnout of people eligible to vote was only 64%. The not-voting group at 36% is larger than the % voting for Trump. What—especially now—can we infer from nonvoters? Best indicators might be polls & turnout in 2025-26.
I doubt that this country is split 50-50.
