Making an independent civilization is going to require space colonization. Earth is too much of a melting pot now for distinct civilizations to exist here any more. Fast communication & travel has a homogenizing effect.

Yes, in reversible computing we are trying to make computing technology more energy efficient by recovering signal energies and reusing them for multiple digital operations! For this to work well, we also have to avoid throwing away information! It’s very challenging, but important for the future!
