It is my enduring opinion that fanning the "dead game!" flames by repeating concurrent player stats, is asshole behaviour and you don't get to then act shocked if the game doesn't take off!

Here are its numbers compared to (other, completely different game with a wildly different playerbase and set of expectations) clearly it's failed.
Ah, the gamers have waited.. 26 hours before declaring the new game to be dead.
Good, good, cool, helpful and productive.
This is why genre is useful as a tool! Finding something you like then learning about how its different components build up a categorisation, then exploring those categories and learning about their traits!
a section of a Hubble image of galaxies enlarged to show a trail of stars resembling the tail of a comet
This is the trail of stars originally spotted by Hubble. It's actually a tunnel of stars in the compressed wake of a supermassive black hole :
Marathon good.
I had tremendous fun.
I am, currently, intending to stream Marathon later on.
I am rather excited about it.
This looks like it could've come straight from the @paperbackparadise.bsky.social archives
Very cool to see my soundtrack come together with everyone else's work in these recent teasers.
This game has The Vibes in abundance and Nic's thoughtful design is going to be of interest to many of you games people so please give it a look!
YEESSSS, passes don't expire!
Just saying, it's extremely unfair that BOTH Marathon and Slay the Spire 2 drop tomorrow at the same time. One of them could've launched today, giving me something to do for the next 24 hours, but no.
Somehow the bitcoin tattoo isn't the most embarrassing thing in this photo.

[We see a close up of a young white male, tanned, white teeth, coiffed hair clearly an influencer on social media. It is an image such as you see when social media posts are shown on the news. In the corner of the screen is named a location: DUBAI. He is staring slightly off-camera for several silent panels of the comic strip. His eyes move slightly. He is having a thought.] From off-screen a newsreaderβs commentary comes: NEWSREADER: Extraordinary images here of an expat in Dubai [The influencerβs eybrows raise slightly] β¦Having their first ever geopolitical thought. [CUT TO a BBC news scene. The BBC newsreader CLIVE MYRIE is talking to an interviewee next to the screen showing the social media influencerβs face. The intervieweeβs name is David Jones]. CLIVE MYRIE: To explain the significance of this moment weβre joined by David Jones, our Expat Thoughts correspondent DAVID JONES: Clive, this is momentous It was caught on film at the end of an Instagram post titled: βDubai Is Brilliantβ. [Pointing at the screen, the influencerβs expression still the same] You can clearly see in the eyebrows here, the dawning realisation that there *might* be something in the world beyond his dickhead self. It marks a *huge* departure from all the Dubai Expatβs previous thoughts. CLIVE MYRIE: Which areβ¦? DAVID JONES: You've Got To Get Yourself Out Here Mate, Everything Is So Clean, I Don't Have To Pay Taxes, I Am Incurious As To Why I Do Not Have To Pay Taxes, and Spa. CLIVE MYRIE: And might we see an expansion of these new Thoughts in coming days? DAVID JONES: I think we can expect to see: βI Deserve To Be Airlifted By A Country I Pay No Tax Toβ CLIVE MYRIE: Mmm. [Ends]
As I watch footage of explosions in Beirut and dust clouds towering above apartment blocks in Tehran, I keep coming back to something that I witnessed back in the summer of '04, during my first tour in Iraq. But first, let's start with a question:
Have you ever heard someone wail?
1/
I am, it is fair to say, quite excited.
Oh hey, it's my local MP. Who, when emailed about AI (and other Labour Party decisions), fobbed me off with "it'll be fine, actually" party lines, then instead of discussing further just mentioned he had a town hall I could go to.
Good answers!
The only tactic the Right has is to keep painting itself as the victim, even when they're in power or having every policy decision go their way while they're out.
Love that we're stuck with a government so firmly in the pocket of greedy AI groups that they're planning to legalise copyright theft π«
That is, sadly, what I expected!
Related, but since there's a space for AI disclosure, is that meant to be mandatory? Like, what happens when a game is obviously using AI-gen material but has no disclosure?
One thing I'd like to see Steam do that would be an instant improvement for browsing Next Fest is a toggle for AI generated content, which I know wouldn't be a complete solution because a lot of shady devs use generative AI and don't disclose it, but it would've helped filter some of the slop out.
I'm 59 and have lived through the U.S. attacking maybe 20 countries and not a single attack, nor any life sacrificed by a soldier has made the U.S. better or richer. In reality, every war makes America worse, poorer and more dangerous to the world.
To understand what's happening in Iran today, you have to know about the history of Western intervention in the country.
In the early 1900s, the British secured oil rights in the country until 1993, where they only agreed to pay Iran 16% of the total profits.
This was seen as an unfair deal. π§΅
Yep. Almost regrettably, I've *really* enjoyed playing it, when I barely expected to play past the tutorial. The entire aesthetic treatment is just mesmerising, and the combat has that satisfying Bungie feel. I'm so in.
shockingly people are capable of simultaneously,
1. Hating their government
2. Hating the people who bomb and sanction their country, making regular life impossible and murdering members of their family, even more
Jayme Lawson from Sinners hit the nail on the head and said how I felt with the whole BAFTAs situation.
Told my neighbour runners keep stealing my gear so he asked how much gear and I said I just go to the armory and get a new sponsor kit afterwards so he said it sounds like I'm just feeding sponsor kits to runners and then ONI started crying
