Interessant dossier - tijdens m'n doctoraatsonderzoek kwam ik regelmatig de grote beloftes rond protonentherapie tegen. Belgie lijkt het wel kleinschaliger, voorzichtiger en meer gecoordineerd aangepakt te hebben dan Nederland.

Ter nuance had er wel bij vermeld kunnen worden dat dit vrij normaal is voor ERC-ontvangers, en de docent waarschijnlijk 'gewoon' aan een universiteit elders gaat werken. Er zijn best wat onderzoekers die slim onderhandelen met zo'n beurs op zak en elders betere voorwaarden weten af te dingen.

In Wageningen ging dat laatst nog mis: een heel team vertrouwt op werk van 1 promovendus. Zodra dat werk niet deugt, is dat ook een probleem voor de andere promovendi en begeleiders die daar als co-auteur op staan: www.nrc.nl/nieuws/2024/...
Heb dat gesprek ook ooit kort gehad met promotoren (niet-historici). Een element voor mij was toen ook: auteurschap betekent dat je elk aspect van het artikel tegenover buitenstaander kan/wil verdedigen. Dat wordt snel ingewikkeld als enkel de promovendus als enige alle ruwe 'data' heeft bekeken.

This is a crucial question for understanding how the labour of knowledge-making evolves. Previous attention to the founding, disciplining, and professionalisation of individual sciences has provided robust frameworks for thinking through the birth and growth of knowledge-making communities. Far less attention has been directed toward how those same communities decay, dissipate, or evolve beyond the contemporary boundaries of science. This conference seeks to cultivate case studies of the ends of sciences, and thereby to motivate a new approach to thinking about the developmental trajectories of scientific disciplines, communities, institutions, and the ordering of expert knowledge. A further aim is to strengthen the community of scholars with a shared interest in studying the ends of sciences. Submission Process Submissions should be sent to howsciencesend@gmail.com.
