A collage. On the left the ocean water from above. On the right, a poem:
I can burn
my eyes
On the things
You say
Taking
Your time,
Like, we've got
All day
Wait,
time out
I've gotta
take a knee
You're
making
A proper
Mess of me
Telling a story
That's less overt
To serve
My starving
mind
Its
Just
dessert
Come
Morning time,
I'm complete...
...ly
useless
Cause baby,
You are
Simply ruthless
Concentration
Out to
sea,
I'm lost
In the dreams
You wove
For me

The stack of books I read in January 25: Adrift in Currents Clean and Clear by Seanan McGuire; Star Wars: Someone Who Loves You by Beth Revis & Sophie Li; Death of the Author by Nnedi Okorafor; Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi; and The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow. Not the usual number of book that I read in a month, but all excellent books. A solid month of reading.
January 25 Recap
I read 5 books total this month, & while thatβs less than I normally read, I decided to do away with a goal this year & just read what I want. My goal felt like I was pressuring myself to read, instead of reading for enjoyment. So, less books, but more joy in reading.

Thrift store BOOK HAUL! Most of my shelves are used and thrifted, I love the thrill of the hunt. I also love the economy of blacklisted titles.
Today I found two beautiful editions of Jane Urquhart's "Away" and "The Underpainter". I know she's a #canadianauthor but I haven't read any of her works yet.
I also purchased 3 pristine Arcturus editions. F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Tender is the Night" and "This Side of Paradise".
The other Arcturus is a Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I haven't read any Sherlock Holmes. I haven't read any detective stories as an adult which is strange because I loved Nancy Drew as a child. It might be fun to dip in and out of these stories.
The last book I bought is Libby Bray's "A Great and Terrible Beauty". I do like #darkacademia novels and hopefully this scratches that itch.

I was at the bookstore earlier today. First time I've seen the magazine section look so tiny. *In my old woman voice* there used to be magazine stands with mags as far as the eye can see in my day. What happened? They used to come bundled and stacked like the gif.
