I get what you are saying but the how/why is not adding up here. They don’t just search the devices of everyone. They targeted him for a reason knowing what they would find. What was the reason? Linking socials and passports?
Why was his phone searched I wonder? Sounds like they are already applying social media account identification to passports and automatically flagging those people? The how here would be very enlightening and I wish the Guardian had been more curious about that
